when to switch to hps from mh +rep

should i change to my hps bulb right when i switch to 12/12 or should i wait till i see preflowers or wait till full blown flowering

i tried to search but found no solid answer
 
If you change as soon as you start 12/12 your girls may flower a bit sooner. If you keep the MH during the first couple weeks of 12/12, and also keep the girls on veg (high nitrogen) nutrients, until they look like they're about to spit out pistils you can reduce stretch.

Once the growing tips look like they're about to spit out pistils, for sure switch to HPS and flower nutes.

I've heard some people like to finish off (last week) with MH to increase potency.

I have thought about this....But decided to go with switching with the seasons. How ever I do believe that switching back to mh the last 2 weeks will increases resin glands big time.

i too am a believer of the resin production with mh
but i also believe that it takes away from the final bud size....depending on how long u use it
 
you are supposed to use mh for veg and hps for budding you have them backwards, but if you use mh for budding it increases potency but it dosent penetrate as far down the plant as the hps......MH SLIGHTLY MORE POTENT-HPS PRODUCES HIGHER YIELD.

i dont have them backwards
we were talking about increased resin prodution usin mh the last weeks of flower

I think the once you see the buds swell to the point of no return then one week of MH would be great.
Or you can do what I do and that is raise your hps to 20-24 on the last week. That really sugar coats them.
 
You know there are Big Growers out there that will tell you to switch and stay with MH in flowering. We all know you will lose weight, but you can double the potency/trichs.

so would you say there is a lot better chance of white widow actually turning white if you use mh, if it doubles trichs...what if u used mh on the last 2 weeks only would it still have a big impact on trichs and potency?

High times did a grow off with T-5s and HPS and the outcome was, the HPS had denser buds and the T-5s had 3x the amount of trichs. So it depends on you and what you prefer.
I would go with MH the last 2 weeks, hell yeah. Why not? Nothing to lose and true knowledge to gain.
They sell double ballast now (lumatek I thnk ?) They run both bulbs at the same time.
 
lovely clarification, i was about to start a similar thread. i have a retro fitted Mh which works on a hps ballast. ill be switchin over to my hps wen i switch the hours so

thanks for the great info i plan on ordering white widow and blackberry from nirvana it's gonna be some great shit when i hit it with the mh and cure holy hell can't wait...and one last question how many plants would you put under one single 400 watt hps/mh do you think 10 is to many?
