When to flush

Hi, I have a few bag seed plants. They are in the 5th week of flowering, since i dont' know the strain, how do i determine the last two weeks before harvest so i know when to flush the plants? The trichomes are very clear right now and i think by the time the tri's start clouding uo there wont be two weeks left to flush. I am guessing they are indicas becasue of leave width, and so i'll guess harvest may be approx 8-9 weeks? so i am planning on flushing at 7 weeks..sound right????

Just keep checking the trichs with your microscope. When you start seeing amber trich heads, then you will be close to time to flush.

I imagine you are in soil? It makes a difference.
I personally do not think flushing is necessary, in the way many people think it is.

Amber trichomes are degraded and have bad stuff in them. As soon as I see any amber trichomes, it is time to pick for me.

Don't listen to bmeat.

Listen to Mr T /\ he knows...

Yep, so the idea is to get the highest possible concentration of cloudy trichs. In order to get the peak number of cloudy trichs, the trichs that began to form first (around 4 weeks of flowering) will be amber. If you are around 15-20% amber, you will have @75% cloudy and 10% or so clear.

That is variety dependent.

The trichomes on the leaves will turn before the ones on the buds.

amber trichomes are degraded and have cbn

Cannabinol or (CBN) is an oxidative degradation product of THC. It may result from improper storage or curing and extensive processing, such as when making concentrates. It is usually formed when THC is exposed to UV light and oxygen over time.

  • CBN has some psychoactive properties, about 10% of the strength of THC.
  • CBN is thought by researchers to enhance the dizziness and disorientation users of cannabis may experience.
  • It may cause feelings of grogginess and has been shown to reduce heart rate.

I have never seen an amber trichome at 4 weeks of flowering. I'm sure there are but probably on the leaves which will end up getting trimmed off. Nothing you said is set in stone and would apply to every single grow in the world. It's all varying based on an almost infinite number of factors.

I've pulled one piece and seen nothing but cloudy. I look at another I may see 3 or 4 amber trichomes and the rest cloudy. I could look at another and 25% of them be amber and the rest cloudy. Every cola is at different stages of trichome development, no two buds are the same.

flushing not only speeds up the flowering process, but it also increases taste dramatically (especially for chemical users)

the green house seed company flush once a week in their chemical rock wool grow, starting with week 5, with a solution of 1.1 e.c. but then they feed again with a 1.8 solution. it confuses me.

personally, i water with straight water for the last two weeks, but im in organics.

if i were to chemically grow, i would flush at least twice, and then water with straight water.

Everything this guy just said is wrong.

if the plant doesnt have any soil nutes (to build protein with) it will have to rely on its sugar energy (from the sun water and carbon dioxide), which can only get it so far in flower.

flushing will speed up the flowering process, it will rush the plant a bit.

Can you stop spreading lies?

You are misunderstanding what I am saying...

You generally first see trich production around 4 weeks in flower. They are NOT amber, they are clear. By 9 weeks in flower, those trichs that developed at 4 weeks are now amber.
At some point you will hit a peak trich production 6-7 weeks, that peak is what you want to be cloudy on harvest. At that point, those trichs are cloudy, those that developed at 4 weeks are amber, those just being produced are clear.

If you cut at first sign of amber, you are basing your harvest on the least amount of trichomes. The goal is to cut when the peak production is cloudy.

Of course it variates in strains, which is why you need a microscope. But to get the highest possible number of cloudy trichs, older trichs will be past its peak, newer trichs will not have reached their peak.

no lies here, sir

and leaves dont store anything? are you mad? leaves and roots are the main storage and waste centers for a plant.

and yes, you do starve the plant, making it finish quicker. it also improves taste.

Care to back up your claims?

Bmeat stop spreading lies, the genetics of the plant decide how long it flowers. Flushing does not affect the genetics of the plant in any way
