When to feed after a flush?

Hi all, I've had to flush out built up salts from my media and got to wondering when I should feed the girls again. Should I wait a normal feeding cycle and le the plants absorb the Water until the media is dry again, or should I feed the next day so the plants have immediate access to nutes?

Thanks for your help!

Depend how your plants look? if they are still green and healthy then wait til next watering to feed but if they are not so healthy than you can give em 1/4- 1/2 dose immediately after flushing if needed? got ant pics?

You might want to take a look at Riddleme's make it rain technique.....He flushes every watering and then feeds a couple hours after the flushing when the plants "wake up" again.....I have never tried this but he shows good results....I've always done water-feed-water-feed schedule and if your flush was to get rid of salts the medium it would probly be best to wait till they use up the clean water

Hmmm, 2 out of 3 dentists say I should let it dry out before feeding again, so I guess that's what I'll do. :-) I've been wanting to try the "MIR" technique but I think I'll wait till I start a fresh grow for that.

It also matters what your are using for your medium. If it is soil and your soil is alive but had a salt build up you should definitely wait till it dries. If you are using a soiless mix than I would feed right away since the plants have nothing without feeding them. . I definitely recommend Primordial Solutions Sea Green from Beneficial Biologics, helps break down salts

huh? well I go by this technique aswell ;)...guess you'll find out on another visit...to the dentist? :-P.... sorry I mean...when you do your next grow?

That's why I suggested...should have been more clear, :wall:

What is the condition of your plants/soil/feeding schedual and all that good stuff...but pics would def help in determining the cause of what is going on to be able to determine the answer to your question? just a thought...

Jeez ! If your plants are healthy why would you wait to feed ? LOST grow time ! Give em nutes in the last gallon of the flush . Unless you want to wait on them not to grow fast.

Some people like to make sure the problem was resolved by the leeching before tossing more nutes at the plant. It needs to recover and will be just fine for a few days, allowing him to observe the plant's reaction.

I am using a soilless media, but I agree with the approach to see how they fare before feeding them again.

I also failed to mention that my girls are 2ish weeks from harvest and normally I would feed only water for the last week since I'm using organics. I may just let em ride it out with only water but they were a bit deficient due to lockout, hence my question.

I guess I'd like to know what medium you're growing in because that would make a difference.

If you're growing in soil it doesn't hurt to do a plain watering every 3rd or 4th time you need to water. If you're growing in coco then I'd say go ahead and water with nutrients right away.

When I was doing drain to waste, the way I avoided salt build up's was by watering to achieve runoff. As long as you water until runoff you shouldn't have to worry about leaching salts from your medium.

Nowadays I grow in coco containers in a flood and drain system which can accumulate salt build-ups since it's watering from bottom to top instead of top to bottom. What I do is take some water from my reservoir and pour it over the top of the pots every few weeks right before I do a res change.

Umm it just a soil pot.. I wait till the top soil is dry then check the under soil for moisture if there no dirt or residue on my finger i normally water then... Ive been feeding them worm juice from a composter my friend has in there garage.. Have had the money to get the good nuts
