When to Clone?

Ok so I have two plants about 5 weeks old from a really good bag of weed I bought. I dont know what sex they are but Im looking for some advice on how to find out best way to clone in case one is a female. Should I change the lights to 12 -12, see if thery're females, then chage the light back to 24hrs. Or can I clone in the 1-2 week into flowering. Which is best? Thx

This is what I would do. top all the plants to get a lot of new growth tips. When there are lots then take a few cuttings from each plant and label witch plant they came from.

Now root the clones. After new growth s seen in the clones (2-3 weeks) put the clones under 12/12 but keep the mommas under veg lighting. When the clones start to show their sex you will know which of the original plants are females because clones have the same genetic makeup.

Kill the male clones and their parents and replace the dead male parents with the female clones. Then switch everthing to 12/12 for an all female garden.

You wouldn't need a lot of light to force flowering on the clones. One or two compact floros in a cabnit or closent that doesn't leak light. Might be worth a try. That way you know the sex ahead of time and if you get a lot of males you can replace them.

Do you use takeroot or another rooting hormone?

Glad to help. That's the great thin about clones. They are genetic copies of the original. I have heard of people keeping a really good plant in veg mode and using it only to produce cuttings for rooting and flowering. I think they even clipped the roots occsionaly to to keep the plant in 'stasis'.

So. if you cloned yourself and then had sex with yourself, would that be gay or masterbation?
