When measuring temp, probe under the light or no

So when your measuring the temperature in a room, do you want the probe under the canopy where the light is not glaring on the metalic probe or do you want it right on top. I just ask cuz the room is on the edge of being too hot and when I put the probe right under the light the temp registers as high as 95 but in the rest of the room it is around 82 or so which is acteptable with co2... but 95 is not, warrenting an ac.... any comments.
