When Growing With Sunshine Mix 4 what's the PH?

I'm finding it depends on the strain. Flo went perfectly with the low ph, but right now my g13 X critical mass is showing signs of ph damage. I'm thinking I need the higher ph for this strain.

when i looked at this stuff and seen peat sprag added it tells me something very important that this medium is already very acidic to give you all a idea on ph lower the ph = more acidity following me anthing over 7.0 becomes Base ( alkalinity ) so when looking at sunshine 4 mix you need to realize that running as close to 7 will be significant

Get a big bag of fine dolomite lime and add to your soil (at the amount listed on the bag,theyre all slightly different) before you pot it up. It'll buffer your soil at the perfect pH for cannabis. Means you can just water and feed without worrying about pH. It's also an excellent secondary source of Calcium and Magnesium but it's very very slow release.
I'm not sure about the particular soil you're using, but alot are pre-limed so maybe check if yours is before you start adding acids and bases to your water/nutes?

Its not soil, its sunshine mix...peat moss and perlite or whatnot. From my experience if you add dolomite lime to the soilless mixture like promix sunshine, atami hp, etc. you.run the risk of either A) not getting enough secondary nutrients but adequate primary macros or B) getting sufficient micros but too much macros and slightly overfeeding. That could be just me though. A lot of people reccomend it, and I have been doing it on all my grows for the last six months, but now I'm deciding against it for the afformentioned reason. A small amount however can be helpful in avoiding huge ph drops 3 weeks in, bit dont go hog wild with the stuff.
I just go 6.0, regular nutes at 6 to 6.2, flush every three weeks or so, and a week of water at the end. Mmmmm, I can smell it now
I use straight sunshine #4 at 6.3 and have zero issues.

So you treat it like it's hydro watering/feeding with everything ph'ed to 6.0, this is what the grow shop guy said~

growing mj is about learning and study of plants you shouldnt use a specific ph for every grow you should p;ay around within a few point and log the differences clone and the after you have figured out that strains environment you can take it to the extreme and pull huge yeilds.. your not gonna get the same result as anybody else every grow has different factors do some experiments cmon guys

That's not quite correct with your 'risk' assessments.
I've been making my own *peat moss, perlite, and whatnot* mix for well over 30 years. Not adding lime in some form leads to a raft of pH problems, unless you are growing certain plants that like the pH 5 or so. Ferns mainly, for me.
Of course, too much of anything is going to lock out something else, but a peat based mix is awful acidic on its own, without lime.

Correct-a-mundo. You do need to be cautious because it does have a propensity to become more acidic.pretty easily, but if you are using a recirculating system it will take away most of that issues...if your monitoring the res ph of course.
Is monitoring the res pH and the recirculating system the key to treating it like hydro?
Obviously, it works. I just have a hard time getting my head around it. From treating it like soil I guess.
But, if it works ...............

Mmmm earth juuuuice. Good stuff. I switched from it because its inconsistant. Some bottles are so think its like molasses, sometimes its watery, and because of that the nutrient levels fluctuate. Do you test the e/c or ppm? My point is that even when measuring out the same amount of EJ because of varying concentrations you might be actually giving it more or less nutes than you are measuring. Possibly

No...not so much the key to it, very helpful, but not the key. The biggest key is keeping your rootzone at a flat 6 to 6.2 (imo). You could be doing the whole thing with a milkjug if your keeping the ph and concentrations in check. A recirculating system is very helpful because it basically does the flushing for you every watering so it can be easier to keep it all in check

sunshine mix 4 is soil less so you wanna ph it to hydro's 5.8-6.0 ph for your watering and feedings is what i been told is this correct?

when using sunshine mix #4 u should ph your water 6.7-7.0 bc the peat/lime drop the waters ph until a few waters all you have to do is put some sunshine mix in a cup/grow bag just like ur guna do in ur bags/buckets for ur ladys and run ph"ed water through the empty cup or bag or bucket lol and test the run off when ph"ed at 6.5 it comes out 5.8 when ph"ed at 7.0 run off is 6.3 optimal plant uptake is between 6.0-6.3ph so u want to aim for a run off between 6.0-6.3 try this test urself and record it to get ur own results
