When do we sex?

sooo, what stage do most people, or what stage are most people able to sex the plants? i was truly rubbish at this last grow. i know that the males get the little balls, and the chicks get little pistil things but i'm not good at spotting them.

Hi Kmoo Im on my second hydro grow and my advice would be this (but im no xpert). I veg mine for around 4-6 weeks then put in to flower. At the end of week 5-6 i have found it pretty easy to tell the difference. The males, as yousai, have little balls and I have noticed that the fan leaves and otherleaves are quite spindly and thin compared to their better halves! On my first grow i had two plants that i was unable to tell what sex they were. So i put them in to flower and after a week off flowering it was easy to tell. The males had loads of balls all over them.

my second grow hasn't gone anywhere near as good as my first I must say, however as i have only one grow area (a small grow tent) from now on I am going to buy feminized 'Low Ryder' seeds. They auto-flower and have a short germination to harvest time. Although I will have to buy seeds every two months, it's only £40 for ten seeds and is still much much cheaper than buying from your friendly local street dealer.

The light cycle for these plants is constant (you dont change the lighting time throughout the grow) so i can have many different plants at different stages of the cycle in one tent. No need for sperate room, no need to maintain a mummy, no need for any more than 1 light. A quick and easy crop with no males anywhere on sight.

i can usually spot preflowers at the 8th to 12th nodes once the plant gets at least 12 nodes tall. usually, but not always. otherwise it has to got into 12/12. usually.
on females, i always see the hair first. it sparkles and you can tell it is a clear white hair. when you see it, you will know.

thanks for that, you're right i'll probably figure it out - i just fucked the lighting up so badly the first time the poor babies didn't know what to do with themselves.
