When do I determine if I have Males or Females???

My plants are about 2 weeks old, and I was just wondering when I'm supposed to find out if my plants are males or females....
I mean do I have to do something??
Please any help will be greatly appreciated..

that is if you don't veg long enough to show preflowers correct?
if you wait for preflowers before starting flowering, it doesn't take as long to start flowering yes?

preflowers are the sex of the plant when you see these show you will know cylax with 2 little white hairs is female. balls lookin like little yellow flowers Males, im at 10 weeks vegg out doors and mine are just starting to sex.

throw them into 12/12 until you see either white hairs or balls. This usually takes a couple weeks. You can throw them back into 18/6 or 24/0 after sex is determined.

That is true you can have pre-flowering if you veg for longer than usual. It would be quicker to flower the plants to find out but it depends with each strain.

My first grow of 3 bagseed plants showed all female preflowers sometime between 6 and 8 weeks. They grew in a pc grow box the first 6 weeks, and then moved into a tent with a 400w super hps for 2 weeks (showing preflowers during that time but I didn't write down precisely when) before switching to 12/12.

What I was wondering was how long after 12/12 before a plant with preflowers starts to grow buds compared to one that doesn't. I read about people making a ibg deal of 2 days without light before switching to 12/12 to get them to start flowering sooner and save time. But mine started showing bud growth in less than a week of 12/12. So I wasn't sure what the big idea was, are people so desperate to save 1 or 2 days time (or does that darkness before 12/12 make a huge difference with plants that haven't shown preflowers and is thus a waste of time for plants that have?).

I thought plants were fully mature on their own time when they showed preflowers, and that forcing 12/12 before they do stresses them to get their sooner.

There are so many different strains out their with different problems and different schedules - That's why there is so much information to learn out there and why it's not so clear cut for everybody. It's a learning process like many things in life - once you've gained your exp - pass it on :)
