When buds are ready for curing..

I have a question and will be laughed at for asking this. Everytime I buy weed, the buds have been flattened. I know this is for transporting. But I want to make sure it's just for that reason. Is it a matter of preference for space? Or is this part of the process when harvesting? It seems it's easier to cut the bud up with it being flattened. lol

Nah, this is just for transporting, ease of concealment, lack of care. No reason to press em flat unless you have to.

yep, poor transportation. Love the look of properly stored homegrown, even the hairs are standing at attention :)

agreed, even some early harvest homegrown looks better than that compressed stuff. though ive had plenty of ranges of potency from all types of weed, be it homegrown or commercial, brick or fluff, brown or green, so obviously appearances arent ALWAYS everything, but usually they are =D

i am of the thought that with all the work you put into your girls for 3-5 months, why cut corners on the last, if not most important, step of the entire thing? dank looking/smelling/tasting weed is as important of a part of the process as its potency is in my opinion. that, and, when i bust out a homegrown nug to my friends who buy from other dealers (i dont sell), if it doesnt have that same 'appeal' as theirs, they will question whether its even worth smoking (they refused to smoke my first batch because of its smell and cuz it was harsh from an improper flush). The point (for me) is to produce buds that look/taste/smell/potent as the buds you would get in a dispensary, but at a fraction of the cost of what my friends pay, and i want a product that not only shows that, but rubs their snobby noses in it!

all jokes aside though, if i get high iam at least happy, and thats why none of my last batch was thrown away (although some of the worst tasting stuff went in with the trim for later hash use). This blackjack is lookin to come out skunk, dank, and super dope! they wont have any complaints this time iam sure =D

Yeah, while it is preferable to have lovely big buds, flat packed should not really be used as a reference for crap etc, all the stuff that get's posted over from europe to the UK is vacuum flattened, it still tokes damned good though. But big is beautiful and that's what i like :D
