Hey dgthumb, you say you flush your soil with a root stimulation solution before you plant. What type of solution is it, and when you say you plant, do you plant the seed into the soil, or did you germinate the seed first then plant? I have a few autos this grow and I want to give the girls their best chance. Thanks,
Yes sir I do flush my soil. My grow journal has more info on the soil mix I use. The root simulator/activator I use is: Carl Pool Root Activator. See attached photo.
Now let me make a point real quick. Maybe flush isn't the best term to use considering the giant debate going on about flushing. When I say "flush" in this case, I mean mix the solution up, pour it over my soil until I get run off.
I don't go overboard with it, since I have other amendments in my soil I don't want to flush out. I'll prep my soil anywhere from a week to a few days before I even start the germination process. This gives time for the soil to drain a little more so it's not super soggy.
I picked up a pack of 100 or so of these 3fl oz plastic cups. I use a fresh one each time, each seed gets it's own cup. Fill the cup about 1/2 to 3/4 with tap water and drop the seed in, it will float at first. Usually takes about 24/48 hours for the seeds to sink. (that's when I pay closer attention)
Once I see the seed cracks open (some open more then others and some open quicker) I'll take the cup to my final pot and pour the contents of the cup, water and seed. *sometimes the seed sticks, I set it upside down and tap the bottom of the cup till it drops*
After that, I simply loosely cover with plastic wrap, say a few nice words of encouragement and wait. Once I see the sprout pop through the surface I remove the plastic wrap and just wait for the pot to feel light before I water again. My last grow, It was about two weeks before my first watering.
