What's with the hold on RI cards???

Application was put in around 2 months ago and still no word... My docs office told me the health department put a hold on some applications ...im gettin anxious!

I'm approaching week four. There was an article a week or so ago that stated that the MMP department is getting 75 applications a week. I believe there's only one state employee handling them all, as well.

In the law, your doctor's recommendation qualifies as a card after 35 days from your doctor signing the application. If you have been waiting two months (60 days), you should be good to go. Go to http://www.health.ri.gov/programs/medicalmarijuana/index.php

At the bottom of the screen, you can get the .pdf of the Rules and Regulations for the MMP.

4.2 The Department shall issue registry identification cards within five (5) days of approving an application or renewal, which shall expire two (2) years after the date of issuance.
4.2.1
If the Department fails to issue a valid registry identification card in response to a valid application submitted pursuant to the Act or these Regulations within thirty- five (35) days of its submission, the registry identification card shall be deemed granted and a copy of the registry identification application shall be deemed valid registry identification card.
4.2.2
The department shall issue a registry identification card to each primary caregiver, if any, who is named in a qualifying patient's approved application, up to a maximum of two (2) primary caregivers per qualifying patient.

I hope this is helpful.

Sounds Right..Also they say that with-in 15 days IF you were REJECTED you would get that notice.IF NOT and after 35 days A COPY of the SIGNED PRACTITIONER FORM would act as a patients card.BUT I WOULDN'T GO WITH THAT, COPS MIGHT NOT BELIEVE YOU,OR KNOW THIS PART OF THE LAW.KEEP A COPY OF IT UNTIL YOU DO GET THE CARD..lol

Okay, I've gotten some updates from a reputable source.

First, there is one person handling the registration for all licenses in Rhode Island. Liquor licenses, fishing licenses, and MMJ licenses. Each patient gets a license. There are so many applications coming in now, that the wait time is over six weeks.

Second, the thirty five days is business days (not weekend/holidays). That is very important to take into consideration.

Third, direct communication with any government office like this will only slow the process down for everybody. Each phone call to ask "Why hasn't my application been processed" will take time away from processing applications. Going in person is even worse, because arguing will only result in your application going on the bottom of the pile.

Patience is the best policy. The difference between great bud and schwaggy schwagg is the critical extra week you give your plant. This is same philosophy.

Good luck to all!

P.S. 170 letters went out today. Maybe you are a lucky winner. :-D
