whats type of air stone is best

The long blue narrow ones from Walmart in the aquarium dept might not be the best, but they are the cheapest and I use them.
 
I buy flexible 4 foot airstones that also supply a large amount of bubbles as well as bubble coming out of an opening in the end...Thebigtomato.com
