What's the difference between hang drying and laying buds out on screens?

so i'm about a month away from harvest and i am wondering what the difference is between hang drying buds or drying buds out on screens. besides the obvious that it helps the fan leaves drape downward protecting the buds and letting all the rest of the starches and sugars flow down into the buds. i have the opportunity to do both and i was wondering if it was a process where you hang dry and then place then on screens after a certain amount of time and then started curing. Im not looking for quick dry methods. i am looking for optimum drying/curing as long as it takes to get great tasting herb.

so are screens an alternative for hanging or are they a step you take after hanging or if one is better to stick with than the other? i was thinking about hang drying until slightly bendy stems and them placing them on a giant double decker screen inside the drytent? or maybe just go from hang drying straight to curing if i have the opportunity to leave them in the tent longer?

ive heard from different sources that optimally you want to be able to leave you're plants hanging long enough that their own humidity cures themselves inside a tent or room. i've also heard that hanging them too long will produce hay taste and harsh smoke and to me nothing is worse than bad tasting bud.

my main concern is taste. could anyone shed more light on some unique steps i can take to ensure good fresh tasting herb while drying? greatly appreciated!

when i lay my buds down to dry them they smash themselves and can look funky when dry. when they are hung to dry they have a nicer dried look. less damage to the trichs as well. imo

so u would only use screens if u had no where to hang em? so should i skip the laying on screen and just hang them until curing? thanks for info

yeah only use the screen if you have to, otherwise you're just wasting trichomes and making the bud look more "flat".
