Breaking down my system for a full overhaul on cleaning. What works best for cleaning systems and what are things to avoid?

Most of my system is plastic/pvc.

I had heard that vinegar works good? I don't have any to try but if it's a good solution i'll run to the store.

Thanks!

I start with a toothbrush and CLR, or a LIME and RUST remover, to get rid of the SALTS and Mineral build-up. Then I use soap and hot water, then vinegar last, to rinse it with. I also use a can of compressed air for the tubes and hoses.

Is something like CLR safe to use? I mean I'll definitely rinse it very thoroughly, but I don't want ANYTHING that could negatively effect my system.

Thanks for the input!

I just simple green the entire system - run it through the water pumps, hoses, and reservoirs. It's natural and non-toxic to plants.

I noticed that when I started using hydrogen peroxide in the water it drastically reduced how often I had to clean the system. Plant loved it too. :)

Yeah, i'm currently using 3% h202 but I've been reading about how I should start using the 35% due to the compound the 3% uses to bond the hydrogen and oxygen.

There's still a small buildup in the tubes that I'm trying to get rid of. I like the idea of simple green, i'm going to run to the store now to get some and give it a whirl.

Thanks!
