lsat time i chopped i made the big big mistake of chopping whilst the plants were still soaking!!!! not good i had 26 ounces wet, by the time they were dry i had like 8ounces, i lost way to much.

right my question is what is the best way to try and keep most of ur weight, i kno u can expect to lose a third but what i lost last time was ridiculous, mu mplan is to starve the plant of water until the leaves are literlay curling, bone dry then chop and to dry and slow and natural as possible, do u guys think that method will conserve weight??? any1?:joint:

No matter what happens you will always lose weight, The key is in the curing process... If you follow the steps in the FAQ you wont have any problems, maybe you should worry less abou tthe weight of your product before you sure it then after you cure it. Most people wouldnt even weigh it before they dry and cure it.

ur missing the point m8 completely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
last time i cut my plants soaking wet, the bud weighed in at 26oz when it all dried it was only 7-8oz thats way to much loss, i am aware that u always lose weight, ihave done many n many grows just wondering on other peoples techniques
i know i should have left the plant dry out for 5-7 days without water before choping!!

forgive my ignorance, but how would that drastically change it? you've got wet heavy bud, you cut it when it's wet heavyt bud, then you dry it and cure it and you have say 1/4 of that wet heavy bud's weight, say a 75% loss, whatever.

so instead you dry the crap out of your plantsd while they're growing, you cut them and they're waighing in at only 10oz "wet" as they've already been semi-dried, so once fully dried and cured, you get say 6oz, in terms of percwentage, sure it's an improvement, but it's still the same weight of bud or whatever.

i can't seem to get to my point easily here, arrrr :D yeah, basically if you harvest it wet, then sure you'll lose say 2/3, and if you harvest it when dry, you'll only lose say 1/3, but chances are you'll have the same bud at the end of the day.

can someone correct me? just seems like the only way to save weight is to retain moisture, all you seem to be concerned about is your before and after weights, as said, most wouldn't weigh in wet, it's like counting your chickens before they've hatched

doesnt work like that m8, if ide av cut em down drier they still would have the weight and ide have lost less, i also dried to fast, u can lose weight like that 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

put it like this then, if ur bud is cut soaking and then u dry to fast then u do lose more weight than u normaly would, so my answer is to dry the plants out b4 choping then dry naeturaly and as slow as possible b4 the cure, im convinced u save more weight that way!!!!!!!!!! im not trying to be funny, sorry. taffo

haha, and until i see some proof, i can't see how that works. you dry the plant before you chop, the weight isn't all their, it's dry as there's no moisture in it, if there's less moisture, less weight. i'm fully aware that just nuking it dry will not be good for your weight, but, ahh, i dont' really know, i'm just on an opinion train here, i work things out by logical and rational steps etc, so logically ,i can't see hpow it would work :D

put i like this then. if u dry the fuck ota the plant while its still alive the buds dont shrink, if u cut em soaking and then dry they shrink like fucj and u lose a lot more!!!

u dont ever notice ur buds getting smaller if u dry ur plant out while its still growing do u!!!!!!!!

the dryer it is when u chop it, the less moisture it will lose and the less it will shrink, im convinced, il let u know when i harvest this lot m8.

do let me know. i'm not trying to fight or nothing, i just work with logic, if someone asks me something, i'll think about how it would logically happen etc :D

i could just keep sprouting contradictory possiblities all day, i'm like that. for example, you have a 10cm/sq bud on the plant, it weighs 10g, you cut that down wet, it'll shrink down and dry out to say 5cm/sq and 5g as an example, whether it's shrunk or not, it's not jsut up and floated off into the air, it's jsut become more compact.

if you take that same 10g, 10cm/sq bud, and you let it dry out on the plant, it's still growing, so it'll maintain it's size, shape, appearance, but it's going to be drying and remaining that size. so in the same way nothing has floated off into thin air, nothing will have been added or whatnot, so you'll have the same bud, just it'll be big and airy instead of smalll and compact.

as i say though, that's all jsut my cogs turning, i'd be interested to see if there really is a best method. i'd assume you grow to sell if you're this interested in weights? :) in which case if my idea about them being bigger and more airy is correct, then that's probably the way you'd want to go :D

Huh... were did you get your information at? I read some were that all that dose is lets you dry it faster, speeds up the prosses. I would like to know how that turns out for ya.

would love to see how it works for you...but i gotta go with the logical reasoning here... I dont think it makes any difference mate. By what your saying, drying it on the stem should be exactly the same deal then opposed to drying buds singularly.
