Whats more important? Taking in fresh cold air or letting out hot air ?

I only have 1 fan right now. and my growbox is fairly hot.
Both are equally important. 1 fan is all you need. Hook up the fan to the exhaust so it's pushing the hot air out. Cut a passive intake close to the bottom of the box so that it's bringing in cool air. Exhaust up high, intake down low. The fan pushing out the hot air will also create negative pressure in the box which will pull cool air in through your passive intake. Make sense?:blsmoke:

As Hot air goes out, fresh air will be bought in passively anyway, and vice-versa, there is only so much volume in ur grow box, so there will be displacement of air either way.

No, but your shit sounds Legit!

lol but yea I understand.

85-mid 90's

Mid nineties, not good. The heat puts stress on your plants and slows their growth. If you can, mount your fan on the outside of your grow area, at the top, so it pulls the air out and make an intake down low as others suggest. This way as the fan pulls the hot air out it also helps to pull the air down low in which hopefully will be cooler than the top of your grow area.

Actually 72 to 80 degrees is the optimum temp for photosynthesis. You can go a little over or under without loosing much growth, but you're way over. I try to keep it in the mid to high 70s myself.

You've gotten some good advice in the posts before this one. The only other thing I can add is if you can figure out a way to take in colder air then you are now, it helps lower the temp greatly.

For example, I use a walk-in closet that's attatched to the bedroom. Because of cheap hoods I couldn't get the temp below 80 even when running only one of my three 400w bulbs. So I moved my bed into the living room, I shut off the bedroom from the rest of the house, and I opened a window. Now on cold days I can run 2 lights while keeping the temp under 80.

I wouldn't be sleeping in the living room if it wasn't temporary (I'll be getting a bigger place on my next harvest), but if your inventive you can come up with a free way to lower the temp from the intake.

Also if you get light bleeding in from outside the grow room through the holes for venting in & out, you may want to buy some flexible duct from Home Depot or somewhere and use a ft or two of duct on each hole. By putting a couple of bends in the duct work you can keep the light out.
