If it is while the LPG is evaporating after open blasting, it is probably ice. What is the humidity where you're at?

Dry, fairly high elevation.

Strain and technique doesn't seem to make a difference

Closer look kind of makes it look like the ice form on the coffee filter bottom, not sure. Even so, shouldn't be so much

don't know, never gotten that, i'm curious to see what someone else says, now

The LPG evaporation drops the solution to below the freezing point of water, and ice typically forms at the edges of the pool on the sides, from humidity in the air.

How wet was the material that you extracted and what temperature was it and the LPG during extraction?

Right out of the freezer. I know the guy takes out the air out of the bag as much as he can. Can't say it was wet, just cold. Should I wait for it to dry a bit before extracting?

That's 100% ice. I get some from condensation forming on my extraction tube and melting into the collection vessel. Not a huge deal, as it will boil out when you vacuum purge, but I often do what you do and just remove it with a spoon.

I load my columns before freezing, so the frozen material isn't exposed to atmosphere before extraction.

It's squishy though, I was afraid it's frozen THC or something and I'm diminishing the yield my removing it

I get a bunch of bags from different people, not sure how they handle it. Comes out ok though

No, it’s not ice. It’s plant fats, and yes, you should get them out if you can. A fork usually works well. Can form with bone ass dry product as well. Winterizing the product post purge would also remove the fats.

But yeah, it just depends on the batch, sometimes I get a good amount forming, sometimes none/almost none. It looks and feels like a squishy styrofoam almost and it’s still sticky as hell but it’s not something you want to leave in the product unless it’s for sales purposes and you want to keep the extra weight.
