Assuming that you have adequate lighting and gave the plant proper care AND kept the plant on a vegetative lighting schedule it would be the very same as keeping donor/mother plants and yes it would remain alive and healthy and not flower.

i actually had this very same thing happen to me a while back. a silly friend popped a seed on her sill in october. by jan it was about a foot tall with little tiny buds everywhere but it completely stopped growing. it was very much alive and stunk like hell, but growth was totally halted. she was paranoid so i took it sometime in april. it was still alive but still had not grown at all and some of the leaves were starting to look sickly but were still mostly green. i ended up repotting it and putting it in my window and there it sat as a decoration until about june. then suddenly all of this new growth just totally exploded. the old growth never changed or "regrew" but new shoots were everywhere, and these shoots grew some sick bud. it finished the same size as one i grew from seed in april on that same sill. basically there is an amount of light that will make the plant grow, and there is an amount of light that will simply allow the plant to remain alive. she had hers in a window which even in the winter appeared to be just enough light to thrive. if you were going to keep it away from a window i would reccomend at least putting a table lamp or two near it and it should survive until you are ready to grow it.

bricktop is correct. treat it as an indoor mother and it'll go and go and go. i've had mine vegging for 8 months up until today.
