interesting, i did not no, ive seen multple species in the same general area in nature(not cubes) so i assumed it was similar. sry for the misinformation
 
Depends on what you mean by different kinds. I've seen pics on another forum of a cake with two very different cube strains growing from it,though they do seem to colonise their own half and fruit from it, no overlapping. Different species might vie to outcompete each other, it stands to reason it would happen in such a closed environment but in the wild I have personally seen up to 3 species growing from the same cow turd which when broken, showed the same sort of thing, each species colonised as much of the lump as it could and then stopped and fruited from that section. Just what I have seen and what reason therefore leads me to believe.
 
Sure you could do a tray with say two strains at either side, but it would be a mistake mixing the strains and then trying to grow them together in a tray like a bunch of wildflowers.
 
I've just done it actually with Golden Teacher and Albino A+ in an "x" innoculation pattern. Was hoping for a cake with normal looking fruit and the albino fruit coming out the same cake. As it turns out, only the GT quarters fruited. I should have expected that in any case since AA+ was always difficult to fruit.

If you looks closely you can see the "x" pattern where the 2 strains of mycelium met.

I would imagine certain species of mushrooms would be suited better to grow near one another?

nice I was just wondering if 2 kinds of cube mushrooms would some how combine or something or of the other one would be destroyed I am currently incubating 6 jars i just started yesterday 2 yars each of 3 different kinds of cube B+, Ecuador, and Treasure Coast but i was thinking about doing a couple jars with 2 kinds in it.

It is possible but not likely.
 
remember also that even a multispore grow from a single cap is also like this to some extent (its like little unique brothers and sisters, each will like something else), and there is competition which leads to less fruiting.

Which brings us to a question. We know that cubensis is dicharyotic. I believe that each spore has a one third (?) chance of being compatible with another and transfering genetic information. so, if we mate two monocariotic spores and they are compatible, then the mycelium is now capable of fruiting. But what happens if your now dichariotic (hey, excuse the spelling and even the theory, I am not near my texts right now) mycelium comes into contact with a third that is compatible with one or the other or both, will it still transfer genetic information?

Supposing I have a single innoculation point i.e. a single germinating spore and it exhibits exemplary characteristics - linear growth, intense bluing and great loft. It has reached another myelial mat and I can see clamp connections - but the problem is that I would rather mate the first one with other than the one that has (likely) already mated with it, What happens if I attempt to do so now? Will there be any benifit?
