I am growing in my apartment with LED lights and fabric pots. I have been using Sunshine Mix No. 4 for the past four years or so. I learned early on that I had to use pH Down on the tap water here in Anaheim or the plants would be obviously malnourished. I tried feeding them MiracleGro for a while but they still looked unhappy so I switched to General Hydro liquid fertilizers (Bloom, Vegetation, Micro) and fish emulsion.
I think I have read that Sunshine Mix is supposed to have nutrients that will feed a plant for a month or so, but I usually feed them a bit as soon as they get more than a few inches tall. I don’t have any CalPoMag now but occasionally I mix epsom salts in the water.
If General Hydro is not good enough for Sunshine Mix, what should I use instead? Does it need to be treated with anything before planting?
