hey everyone, lookin to get a new light/lights soon. Any help or input would be appreciated.

Id like to have some info on any experience one may have with secondary lenses, how you feel abou em, how far away or close you have them and any differences you concluded. I currently have CLW. primary 90°lenses only. im looking into maybe an at200 or A51. don't know much about hans, heard they good but not much talk bout them. Well thanks for reading!

I think Black Dog should be on the list of 'good' lights. Mine's almost a year old and still works like it's brand new. There's lots of undue bias against them, but I don't get paid by Black Dog so I can't be their cheerleader.

Have you heard about Astir Led grow lights ?
They are about the same quality like Black Dog (if not better ...)
And they are way better bud -producers than Black-Dogs are ..
Ohhh...Far better ....

Astir grow lights ain't at the list .
Why black dog panels should be ,then ?
With Lower/ or same build / diode/parts quality and less yields ..

'Cause you have them- almost-a whole year( WoW!!!! ) and they still work ?
!!!!!!!
o_O

Oh,I got it ,now ...
...
You're just joking ,right ?

I agree - this is not a list of LEDs that just work. That is a list of LEDs that have performed quite well. I personally don't like the way some panels like the black dog just add seemingly random spectrums for no reason. It seems like they don't actually know what spectrum they really need so they just add multiple spectrums to cover everything.. I suspect that a lot of the output power of the black dogs and other similar LEDs is wasted running spectrums that do nothing for the actual plant. Once again, that is just my opinion so feel free to buy/use whatever you would like to. I just believe that the led efficiency argument falls apart if the led panel is outputting useless spectrums. Wasted energy.

Ok so I am using a 1000W (about 550w actually) I got from ebay for $371 from ledgrowlightmanufacturer. Check out my grow. I am using that light along with a 300W (180w) LED and a 100W blackstar (55w). I know it isn't a name brand and it is made in China, but holy shit is it bright and for less than a dollar a watt! For a similar LED (500w running) you would have to pay over $1500. Ain't no way in hell I am going to drop that much when I can get 3 almost equivalent lights.

I am growing Green Poison and a White widow, the green poison has over 10 colas that are over 8 inches tall. I'll be finishing up my first grow with that 1000W in the next month. The whole grow is about 800 watts

Here is the grow. 4x4 tent 2 plants DWC (first time doing DWC also)

Don't get all butt hurt because I criticized your list.
Please trust me..
Neither i felt/took it as you' critised my list ' (who cares-except the newbies for that list ,anyway ? )
Neither I got all hurt ...
It's just the way it is ...

In the first part of the list, for most of us -common- people, are the most efficient and proven
manufacturers ...

At the second part, not much is known for the lights of those manufacturers in the mj-farming community ,
but they are used already in large-scale greenhouses ...
With success.

The third part ,is way out of reach ,regarding price tags for most of us ...
And lack the abilities of actually fully growing a plant

Except from heliospectra ...
But who would want to torcher that jewel of technology ,inside a tent for 18/6 x 4 weeks ?
Not me for sure ...I'd rather have it ,doing tests ...Not growing plants ,aiming at a production of some sort ...
The light will manage the task ...My heart won't ...

Anyway .
Black dog ,does not deserve to be there .
Where's the proof that justifies the light as a 'worthy' and 'efficient' for growing mj ?
You having it almost a year ,and still working like new ,ain't proving ...it ...IYKWIM ....
Proof please and the list can be updated ,easily then.

Cheers.

Did I say ,that cheapos ain't growing ?
No !

Check again,what exactly I'm stating ...

I hope you're
1) legal
(you have a huge EMI 'signature' coming out from your home';s AC line ,my brother ,
if not a RFI sig along ,which BTW might be 'buzzing' at passing airplanes ......)

2) You have insuranced your house against fire/electrical hazard ...

3)have fire extinguishers at least if not insurance...

4) Post some pics of your grows ,one year after ,starting exactly from today ....

5) 800 Watts ? Let us see some yields there ,then ...
If you get 400 grs (.5gpw ) with those lights you 'd be more than lucky .
I'm not offending your growing skills.
You'll find out that ,by yourself,anyway .
Good luck,grower.
That's the spirit.
Aim high !

Cheers .

I'm not sure what this aggressive post was about because I was replying to the OP. If you read the whole post you would know I am finishing up my first grow with it. Thanks for the advice dad

Black Dog doesn't appear bad and I almost pulled the trigger on one before I got my CLW (another B grade light).. Since I don't actually own a BD I haven't ever spoke much, but they appear to have a similar problem as CLW. You're paying too much and drawing too much at the plug for what you get. Sure BD and CLW will both grow some nice bud, but to be at the top tier you have to cover more space with less watts.

It's all good. I will try to remember to post some results after my harvest here.
Remember ...
By no means ,I'm offending your growing skills or experties.
I certainly ,do not .

A high quality / efficient grow light ,in the wrong hands would not grow shit ....
From the other hand ..
A low-quality / unefficient led grow light ,in 'greentouch' hands might yield respectable figures ...

There're some differences also, elsewhere ...
Also to remember ...
Safety-Service/replace/upgrade/support -operational & productive life - etc ....

Do not neglect those things and just focus on harvesting our precious flower ..
They 're of great importance to a grower in general ...
Cheers ...

..Son...

That's an understatement :fire:.....................has the driver issue been fixed or did they just lower the output??
I really don't know that there was or is a driver issue, the issue I had was thermal shutoff and I'm not real sure it was even the fault of the light. I get a little messed up and start bumping wires sometimes. I never really figured out just wtf it was.
Has not been an issue again so I'm going with it.
I'm not even really into my first official onyx grow but soon should have some material.
On the other hand the 303 Flurry that's in the 4 by 4 tent with tht onyx and one grape ultra are doing well.
I'm not showing much of anything till I'm back in hydro and then I think the onyx will do real well.
I may even devote a small area for an Onyx/Aqua Illuminations vega all blue night flower. :p

Have you tried out the Apache  how does the red/blue spectrum do for flowering  I was thinking about getting a white/clear for my veg room. hadnt made my mind up yet though.
Doesn't look like they've really done much to upgrade.. That CLW setup is just so weak.. At that price you can do way better with A51 or Apache..

Option A )
I'd buy 9-10x of these( 720-800Watt ) :
http://www.bonsaihero.com/ledgrow-led-panel-80-watt.html
(A bit of e-mailing with Hans ,will probably have the deal done ...)

Option B )
I'd buy 2x of these ( 240 Watt ) :
http://www.apachetechinc.com/23-wh.html

Option C ) (575 Watts )

I'd buy 1x of that : http://a51led.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=195
& 1x
of that along with :

Well TY.. I really like the bonsai look that option A produced. Where I do allot of breeding & run plants a tad faster then usual that would work out perfect for me. ;) you can describe the (Santa 's coming on a jet-ski !!
Do you want me to describe the bikini / minikini wearing 8'5" 'elves' ? ) if you'd like still ;) haha Naw but seriously thanks. I was wondering what to go with, and didnt want to get burnt on a high priced system that really didn't produce good results/or results I wouldn't be happy with. Had a buddy that wanted to purchase a bunch of those real cheap China made LED systems, I had to stop him from doing so (waist of $). I would say one of their systems would be ok on a few seedlings. Dang things (Chinese systems) dont last long at all.
