What is vegging? Right now my seedling is very small and it is on 24/0. How long should I keep it on 24/0 till I switch to 18/6?

How long should I stay in 18/6 before switching to 12/12?

Uh, it says a UL Portable Hand Lamp. It uses a 13W bulb I think. It is a long lasting fluorescent bulb.

I only have one plant, and it is a couple inches away from the plant.

you veg as long as you want to. your plant well double sometimes triple in size during the first 30 days of flower. just make sure you have the room. you can run 24/0 allthe time in veg if you want, or 18/6 your choice. i run 24/0 1st 30 days in veg and then switch to 18/6 the last 30 days in veg. you get better root growth when the plant sleeps.

vegging is when your plants are growing bigger like stems, leaves and roots, and its really up to the grower on what the lighting should be for vegging, some people chose 18/6, some choose to have lights on 24/7, either way the plant will stay in veg. My personal oppionion would be 18/6 as soon as the sprouts come up, I remember hearing somewheres thats roots grow during the dark periods.
As far as switching to 12/12 again its really up to the grower, the longer you grow it in veg the bigger it will be, some people will veg for 6 months before they switch to 12/12, then others will switch to 12/12 after the plant is 6 inches tall. All in all, the longer you leave it in veg, the bigger the plant gets, and the bigger yeild you will have.

Would it be a bad move to go straight from 24/0 to 12/12?

Ok cool. I was also curious about sexing. Does the plant have to be flowering to determine the sex, or can I determine the sex during vegging?

Unless you have an auto flowering strain, the plants will show their sex only when they go into the 12/12 light cycle. Auto flowering plants will show their sex after a certain amount of time regardless of what the light cycle is.

if you veg long enough under 18/6 you will gt preflowers and be able to sex them out.

Yeah, you can switch to 12/12 whenever you want to. Some strains will double in size, some even quadruple.
