What is this on my shrooms (shroom noob)

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the shroom world. But iv tried googling this and searching. What the hell is this shiny stuff on the shrooms and on the other side that dark stuff looks like dirt almost..

Is the nasty looking bottom good to eat?

The shiny stuff is vermiculite.

Brush off as much as you can... it won't do you any harm, but you may get a case of the "glitter shits".. it works it's way through, and makes your poo sparkle.

Difficult to tell from the pix, but I'd guess at coco coir or peat.. those are a couple af things used regularly over vermiculite to make the mushrooms pop their little heads up.

Either way, it's not likely to be anything toxic.. just "dirt" left over from the grow.

i would never sell shrooms like that to anyone- they should always be clean as can be and handled with extreme care by the grower, people are going to eat them afterall. you should bitch a little to whoever you got them from that they are lazy.

I agree..I feel sometimes that shits left on the myco to increase weight..either way it makes for gritty shrooms...was the trip any good or were they dookie?
