what is the best pot size to grow mothers in? opinions?

which pot size is the best in ur opinion for a mother plant 5 gallons seem monsterous

im looking to get clones to start a sog grow with

all together 5 plants

idk if u can see it but the last picture she has white pistols =) yayyy its a girlll
not bad for 1 month old and 20/4 lighting (cfls) ;)

im also taking wagers...the tall skinny one is going to be male

one or 2 gallons should be fine for a sog but if u have the room 3 couldn't hurt. Do you know what strains they are?
 
If you want a mother big enough to get a lot of clones off of several times, you need a big pot to keep it healthy. 5gal minimum would be what I recommend. Mothers are intended to grow continually, that needs space.
 
dude i'm sorry i read that wrong yesterday n left a dumbass remark, but yea what Kerovan said haha. You may be able get away with a 3 or 4 considering you only want about 5 clones, but you don't always know success rate so you may want to go with a 5 gal n grow her out big just to be sure.
 
I do fine in a 2 gallon, I like to replace mothers faster than some people I would imagine anyways. I don't do a great job with my mothers, so after about a year, they gone. But someone on here, it might be Gypsy Bush, had a mother in a tiny pot, looking healthy as can be, and it had been in that pot for awhile.
 
Thanx guys i appreciate the input the reason i was asking...i put one into a 5gal but it seems hugeee like i was growing a xmas tree or some shit haha
 
These are bag see strains i had some seeds from some nice jack herrer and haze but there all mixed and idk which is which from seeds...some seeds were even mids so this will b fun =)

i got real lucky last grow i got a purple strain from bagseed
 
u can grow in a small pot and still have them big enough for cuttings just treat her like a bonsai every 6 months or so just pull her out cut some roots off and repot in same pot fill the extra room with more soil
 
man i gots some 4' tall skywaker kush in 5.5inch like .5 gallon pots have to water 2 a day so ide go 3 gallon but just an example of what can be done.
 
U got a 4ft tall plant in a half gallon pot? Thats pretty crazy...seems itd b top heavy....if the math is right with a 5 gal bucket i could grow 10 times ur size...damn 40 ft plants sounds pretty nice =P

Hmmm odlaw thats not a bad idea never thought about cutting the roots off to continue being able to veg them bigger i may just give it a shot thank u
 
I have mine in little 4X4" pots, bonzaied. It's pretty easy to do, and great for closet grows where space is of the essence. I have three lil' mothers in a 1ft cubed space, all different strains. Variety is the spice of life :)
