ive been helping a friend harvest his outdoor crop and it smells soo good Before we dry it. what are we doing wrong ? we hang branches on a string in a dark, cool room with a fan circulating. after a couple days we bag , then re-hang after buds have become moist again. We repeat this until they are where we think they are as dry as they are supposed to be.
we can cut a bud up and the stink is there and it tastes good when dry hitting a joint. But it seems like some of the flavor isnt there.

Any tips or hints ???????

Read up on curing. Put your buds in a mason jar after drying. Let it breathe every day for a bit and close it up again. Store in a dark place.

I'm no expert... but I'd say let them dry longer... like 4-5 days longer till the branches snap or the shorter cola leaves are a very light green... oooorrrr till the outside of the bud is dry and crisp... then loosely put them into masonary jars... open the lid daily and give them a toss to move'em... do this for a week or two and you should have stinky, tasty, STICKY, dank nugs!

So all in all my opinion... they haven't been cured... from what I've been taught, thats where the magic happens!!

You have to cure your weed for it to get the dank smell back. Just drying it makes it smell and taste like grass or leaves.

After re-reading your first post, I'm confused. When did you have them curing. I re-read it and you only mentioned hanging them, bagging them, then re-hanging them until you thought they were dry enough. Hang them, bag them, then cure them in jars.

Curing is the process that gives your buds the dank smell and taste, it also makes the smoke smoother and if done properly they should be at peak potency . Slow curing is usually done in mason jars. The idea is to remove the water slowly enough to let biological processes take place that convert the sugars and starches into harmless and flavorful compounds. Sugar or starch will give a harsh smoke that hurts the lungs. Plants need sugars to live on and they produce them from fertilizer and sunlight. This curing process also breaks down some of the chlorophyll which give herb it's green color. Too much chlorophyll gives an unwanted leafy taste

Please read my thread on curing. https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/120624-want-bag-appeal-curing-matters.html
