What happened to this seedling?

What happened here?

DSCN2890.JPG

I thought things were going well and then I saw this. The "main vein" of my seedlings is very very thin. Am I doing something wrong?

the taproot grew in a semicircle and the air greened it. it has or will surely branch under the surface if it is to survive.

definitely weird.

oh i didn't read your bottom inquiry. the greening/thinning is just what happens when roots are exposed to light. unless you held the cube upside-down when you were germinating, this is just a freak accident.

Hmm, funny, I never even thought of that. I probably pinched it in there without even realizing it. It definitely looks like something just pinched the nerve. Makes sense. Any chances of that surviving?

I thought it was mainly to raise humidity, but maybe there's a better answer. I've just read a lot of things that claim seedling should be grown with some kind of plastic shield.

but why would you apply such a risky tool that close to your stem?

oh i see. its a jiffy box sortta thing. the angle/size/shape of the damage looks like it got slammed in the lid. makes my fingers hurt. bad memories of a car door accident.

Should I not be using the lid? I am definitely a new grower. I'm following page 28 in "the cannabis grow bible" referencing "Propagation Kits". This is why I thought I needed the plastic cover.

if the lid is killing the plant, lose it. you don't neeeeeeed it. but does create a cool little greenhouse effect.

shit i see it now. i was totally not seeing what happened there correctly. posters please advise when others don;t know what they're talking about for the sake of those needing advice ... good call on the lid.
