What happened to my plant in last week of flowering?

If its a branch dieing here an there i would think stem borers, also looks a bit early to harvest.

It is early but the entire plant except 2-3 bottom stem is like this. i was away for 4 days and came to back to this but it was being watered and the other plants in the garden are fine. are there any ways to check for stem borers?

had to harvest the plant since buds were browning, found a giant worm inside the bottom of my main stalk which caused entire plant to not receive water? thanks was stem borers
