You better damn well believe it! All of you! Do a web search on *U.S. Patent #6630507*. This just happens to be the patent # that the U.S. govt. holds on cannabis. It is a MEDICAL patent on a plant that they claim has NO medicinal value, which is one of two criteria that qualifies it as a schedule I narcotic. The other being their claim that it is "highly addictive". The feds lie to support their drug war. Without cannabis in their list of bad guys they cant justify not allowing legitimate research to be done and findings being made public knowledge therefore putting big Pharma at risk of losing money at sales counters not to mention research funding for more unnecessary pharmceutical poisons. Be aware folks. The US govt. doesnt give a damn about US citizens.

Both cigarettes and cannabis are smoked.
Users smoking cannabis get fewer cancers than users who smoke neither cigarettes nor cannabis.
So…if you want to reduce your chances of cancer…. smoke cannabis! Wait- How can this be???
If both cigarettes and cannabis are smoked, yet cannabis smokers get fewer cancers overall, what is the reason?
Since both products are smoked, the only difference is: the rolling paper and the ingredients! Cigarette mfg.’s add in nasty chemicals to their tobacco, and THOSE must be what causes lung and throat cancers, yes?
Cannabis (when properly grown and harvested) contains ZERO nasty chemicals AND hundreds of beneficial ones!!! Sounds like we need to MAKE CIGARETTES ILLEGAL AND LEGALIZE POT!

Agree 100%. I have known about that patent for quite a few years now. I originally thought they patented it just to stop others "from making, using or selling" the patented invention. (which is really what patents are for). Turns out they are licensing it to a Pharma startup in NY right now. So apparently, they don't intend to sit on the patent, but only allow certain entities to profit from it. Surprise! That patent *can* be overturned BTW.
Mudminer,,,,they got that patent toward the tail end of Bush's term didn't they?? when you have a drug war for 50 years and the people you are fighting could care less about you for billions of dollars,,there has been something going on there with the money exchange,,,,why?? someone tell me where the dead bodies in this war are....Surely you will have more than the 6 we see on those weed wars they show daily or at least once a week...i seen on CNN where they showed about half a dozen mexican men on the ground,,,,dead...Now if they are dying Americans have to be dying,,,unless they are stroking their yo-yo under a shade tree and doing it for 50 years. Legally American troops are not suppose to be there,,,otherwise it would be an act of war,,,and war hasn't been declared..i believe after this next election a President or our Congress shouldn't be able to declare war without the vote of the people,,,,the U.S. has been too quick to send our military Forces anywhere.,,,it goes for Police actions and drug wars to be included..

patent applied for in 01 and granted in 03, G.W.s 1st term. it will expire in 2021. the"drug war" is a pretty unconventional one compared to other wars. the feds know they cant stage full on, guns blazing, combat actions in the streets on u.s. citizens over a plant. and they also know better than to use military personnel to fight it so they literally go after the plant itself with federal civilian emplyees known as dea (drug enforcment agency) agents, fbi (federal bureau of investigation) agents and the myriad of state and local agencies with all combinations of initials under the sun. civilian agencies can legally operate across international borders at the request of host countries. the "body counts" are to be found primarily in utterly unnecessarily overcrowded jails and prisons. and of course the hospitals, not to mention those who are forced to live with debillitating symptoms of untold numbers of ailments that can and should be treatable with a natural herbal med instead of ungodly expensive pharma poisons that do more harm with side effects than anything else. the u.s. gov. is maliciously witholding the benefits of a completely natural medication from its citizens of which they are fully aware of its benefits, hence their MEDICAL patent of the substance they claim has NO MEDICINAL VALUE. as far as the $$$$ are concerned. big pharma lines the feds pockets for the continuation and initialization of all their horseshit projects, wars, $2000 toilet seats and whatever other ways of pissing money away that they can think of.
