lol He obviously was so awestruck by the sight of god he begged for forgiveness and he was made clean. Its just another look at salvation in the bible. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saves us.

Isaiah is in the old testament. this means jesus was not alive. the passage you quote is referring to the Lord speaking to Isaiah and telling him how the sudanese will be destroyed for their sinful ways.

and the other 'herb' and 'bud' references could be VERY general. MANY MANY plants can be called 'herbs' and MANY MANY MANY plants have 'buds'.

how do they know this as fact?

We cannot ever ascertain 'facts' from history. We can merely ascertain that it is illogical that they mean any other plant, as no other plants have all the attributes that the tree of life does : Healing, consciousness, used with a burning coal, twelve months of the year, etc..

What other plant could they mean?
