What do you think of my attempt to silence my inline exhaust ?

Wrapped it up in bubble wrap and a wool undersheet which is pretty thick .

Taped tight and myt go over it again with more wool

So a ) I can go without a speed controller ,hopefully

B) go with a speed controller and hopefully be almost silent

I've yet to try it out tomorrow

Any cons to this ?

Lol yea the lot ?

I've got water proof stuff I can go over it with . doesnt need to be a work of art. If I can effectively silence my fans without spending any money. Maybe a speed controller

What about these accoustic boxes they just seem to completely encase the fan

Many fans are cooled through the ducting so to speak. Every proper brand has internal heat fuses. At least here over the pond.

I'd encased fans before in insulation boxes etc, some are still alive today and well over 15 years. All proper industrial standard stuff.

I'm not saying it's a good advice, I just say it can be done.
 
95% of the sound is air exiting.Covering the flex pipe only helps so much.Look online for muffler design.

Yup Ive wrapped several in rockwool insulation 6".Even built a box around.Was too the point that couldn't even hear it and had to check outside if it was running.Just took up too much space though.
