What do you look for most in a strain?

For me, I look for these qualities, most important first:
1. Potency/High (not potency of stoned. i like sativas)
2. Taste
3. Yield
4. Flowering Time
5. Resistance, Looks, Height etc.

Though sometimes, flowering time is a deciding factor (i love Train Wreck :))
What kind of qualities do you look for? It would be nice to see since I want to start breeding soon.
 
Potency is #1. Long flowering times. Resistance to heat stress/pests. Staying power when left alone. Everything else is just an added bonus.
 
1 vigor/adaptability
2 potency
3 aroma
4 taste
5 yield
im not concerned with flowerin time too much due to my climate but istill like within 14weeks for my heavy sativas
 
1. Pottency/High (I like sativas too!)
2. Yield (has to last me and my 3 bros till next grow)
3. Aroma/Taste (if it smells/tastes lame I don't smoke it)
4. Resistance, ease of growth (I like to keep the growth risk factors low)
5. Trichome coverage (I like my bubble hash as well)
 
taste ( it's all about the flavor baby)
flowering time ( not in a postion to have this be last on the list ......yet.)
yield
potency ( i list this close to last because, i don't forget my roots. I know i can get high off most any strain. However duration of the high is as important as yield.)
ease of grow ( I'm not an advanced grower by any means, so i look for strains that aren't nute sensitive and/or resistant to disease)
* if the genetics are good enough it throws all this out the window and i'll grow damn near anything.

Effect- type of high. (i like most strains i smoke but some put me on edge or get me upset and i stay away from them)
Potency- less you need to get desired effect the better. duration is important as i like different high's for varying activities like college classes, work, sex, movies.
Growth- how it yields, ease of growth.
Flowering/veg requirements- cant grow true sativa's since they take too long.
Cosmetic appeal- scent, taste, smoke. (Gives placebo effect if the strain stinks alot)
Degradation rate- how long the strain can be kept curing before decline in potency and/or how long it takes to build tolerance(tolerance is the most important)

this is how i grade strains so that is what i look for.
 
Its all down to the circumstances i dont grow atm so that leaves me out. If I had little space i would put yield on top, its no good having potent weed if you only got a handfull for months. I would like to do as many strains possible, so effects/potency is irrelevant if i have choise.. I guess then comes ease of grow. If I was doing indoors my country would need a high resistance to heat, if it was to be done outside I guess i would go for a disease resistant strain.. My favorite weed is energetic weed and trippy weed. I could do with some heavy indica's as medicine for my very serious case of insomnia though..

Because its all for me I go

1. Quality of High
2. Potency
3. Smell
4. Flavor

I don't care about yield of all 4 of those are amazing because i'll just grow bigger plants in veg.
