what do you guy's think

I have 4 plant's growing under 4 4' CFL's 4100k soft white bulbs. They're about 2 week's old and about 3 -5 inches tall. Im wondering if this will be enough light to get them to about 12-14", so I can start flowering with HPS's. Let me know if im good for now..Im pretty sure that I am, only because they're growing nicely! And also, I read a thread that said, lol, i'm a rapper I know, anyway's....It said that you can tell they're female right away, once the 3 lobed leaf pop's up and if the stem's are level on the main stem, that they're are male EVERY time..and I was looking at a bunch of pic's off this website and almost all the females I saw, had equal side stem's...anyone know if that's for real?

thats such a crappy color temp to use, go for 6500k or atleast 5100k. 4100k isnt that great for plant growth, but its enough light, just keep the tops of the plants 3-5" from the light and ur good.

as for the male/female thing.. i dont think its true

that will be enough light, but is it possible to throw on the hps as well? i understand if you dont want to though, i am not gonna veg with my hps next grow, but then again, i have 400 watts of cfls,lol.

also about the female thing, that is bullshit. there have been similar discussions on this sort of thing before. the only real way to tell is to veg them until they show preflowers, or switch em over to flowering and wait a week or so and see if they are growing balls or pistils.

I definately have the light's as close as possible and im paying close attention to the coloring of the leaves, to make sure they don't start to fade on me. Right now they are a nice shade of dark green. Ya, im pretty sure that is BS, but ill just have to test it myself. And what about this....I've also heard that the cool CFL's are actually able to produce good bud's...I think that maybe it will just take longer, but I like how CFL's look, at least the 4 footer's..how much do the light timer's cost..I plan on getting one as soon as I start flowering..?? I guess I could just look online..

I was told by a personal friend, that you don't really need any reflection material surrounding the plant's, as long as there is white paint on the wall's. Anyone know if that's true or not?

i have heard that some white paint reflects the light in your grow area. im not sure if its any special kind of paint though, so dont take my word on it.

light timers shouldnt be too expensive, $15 at the VERY most

I am actually thinking about changing over soon to HPS's, what is a good setup for those? Is just one 60 watt HPS good? I just want to speed thing's up a bit and I know you can use HPS throughout the whole process, veg and flowering. So that sound's easier. I just don't want to blow the electric bill through the roof, with like 4 45 watter's, ya know..Any advice?
