What do you grow alongside your cannabis plants?

My ganja garden is edged on the outside by varying types of canna lily because they grow big and tall. Those combined with clematis on trellis’ keep neighbors and people on the lake oblivious. I do nothing for smell because my neighbors are far enough away that I’m not worried, and realistically I’m not sure it’d matter. Even with flower gardens and the lake breeze, even in veg the yard smells of sweet skunk.

Sounds like you have a lovely grow spot. Im not worried about stealth where I am thank god.

With concealment in mind, I let about a 8' swath of a Texas weed grow on all sides. It grows tall to 8 feet or more, and even has leaves resembling my plants. A spraying of rabbit and deer repellent keeps the critters out, also.

chrysanthemums, they have a strong but pleasant smell, and repel many insects (mums are the source of pyrethrins)
gardenias and jasmine are also good for covering up odors, as well as rosemary.if you have mums and gardenias up your front walk, and rosemary and jasmine in your back yard, you could have skunks living with you and no one would smell it.

I had some chocolate mint in pots around my grow last year. I also had a citronella. I would walk by a brush the plant and the lemony smell was great. I think it kept some bugs away. But I grew some bush beans around my corn and had 15 foot corn plants. I was thinking of trying with my cannabis this year because beans are nitrogen fixers, meaning they take nitrogen from the air and redistribute it in little nodes along their roots. Then I chop them down just before the start producing beans. I think this helps. The native Americans used to plant three sisters. Which was corn mixed with beans and squash. The squash leaves would shade the ground like a living mulch.

Yes, I am starting a 30' trellis of jasmine on my east side (loud, noisy kids over there)...French marigolds will "trap" nematodes by lettiing them in , but refusing to allow them to leave for further foraging.
Nematodes are a problem for me :cuss:

For me, too---all because I cannot afford enough of the French ones to do the job for me..All my peaches are on special NemaGaurd stocks, though. My plums are on Myrobilin stocks..My only apple is on MM!!! I believe. (Malling Merton)
Too bad that ground fumigation under big tarps is not allowed here now---just gas 'em and go!...Hahaha

I've never heard of nematodes a being bad. Is it the type of nematode? Are they damaging your roots? I'm try to wrap my head around organics. And I thought they were good for eating bad bugs and then die off when they run out of food.
I just added some to help fight fungus gnats in my earthboxes.
I know there are different kinds like the ones for grubs in you lawn, there are also the ones I got that go after the gnat larvae.

My roots are being effected greatly. To a point the roots become lumpy and not branching out. Vegi's are having trouble producing and even staying alive at times. Nematodes are enemy number one in my garden. The caterpillars are easy to spot and kill, the dam nemo's are underground and I don't like pesticide...however i used some because I felt helpless, now i await the next season with high hopes for less worms :blsmoke::bigjoint:

Beneficial Nematodes found in worm castings really works well. I saw a farmer on YouTube that solved his Nematode problem with topping the soil in a layer of worm castings. I'm doing that but am gonna get some of those French Marigolds for sure!

I'm growing a lot of Garlic throughout my yard. The logic was that Garlic attracts a lot of Myco fungi and keeps the colony active during the off season as well as boosted on season. It also repells some harmful insects and also seems to be repelling crab grass which is really cool.

I wish I had taken some photos of my tomato plant's root system. It was very sickly however did produce nice tomatoes. I unfortunately was impatient and killed everything with a pesticide, but garlic is magnificent. Thats the next big thing for my garden, this year I'm going into cloves :hump: no pun intended

I'm really liking Garlic , not sure if they repel Nematodes but I've never seen lumps on any of the roots so maybe they do.

. Here's the link I was talking about where a farm uses worm castings to solve their Nematode problem. Good worm castings have beneficial Nematodes which lay their eggs in the root knot Nematodes and they eat them from the inside out then explode out like the movie Aliens. Beneficial Nematodes don't harm your plants. No need for pesticides. There are all sorts of good videos on the subject on YouTube.

I grow three rows of Mexican Blue Maiz (11 foot high) corn right next to my girls and then a row of Better Boy tomatoes in XL tomato cages for concealment and kitchen use.
