I've been composting and mulching, and looking at seeds and strains, reading and researching growing techniques, and running a business, but I'm getting major "off-season" frustration/blues.

What do you guys do towards your garden during off season?

Where I live this is the growing season. It's too hot in the summer in a desert but I still get three grows a year by starting in July with seedlings and vegging then flipping in Sept. and using a small veg room to fill the flower room all winter. Usually my break come about the end of March when yard work and golf begins and heavy toking/medication is in full swing. Spring comes early in the desert and is best spent outside of a grow room.

I guess you grow outside, something I'm a complete failure at.

I move indoors for the winter but to answer your question I picked up some temperature and humidity sensors for this Arduino I have. For now my project records temp and humidity data.

I am also building a small greenhouse for this coming spring and for now I've got footings and foundation framing out, and under 10-inches of snow. This is a one-step-at-a-time project and all about her ladyship the border collie who thinks anything in her backyard is for her amusement.

I did add soil to 5-6 holes in one of my patches a month or two back. But the timing for a spring crop got away from me. Still dealing with you know who. . . . . All my 15-20 foot tall pine trees are now 12 foot long and 6 foot tall. Will have to wait for late summer to keep the plants lower than the tree tops. I may have to run a few autos.

I have been tending clone mothers all fall and winter in my basement. This week I will take first set of cuttings for early planting in our greenhouses mid-march. Will run lights for a few months and start covering the greenhouses in june for Aug harvest while prices are highest. Then get clone mothers in sep/oct and repeat...

I would love to get in an umbrage situation {where I could throw shade}. A greenhouse is in my future, but it will be for veggies for the foreseeable future.

Set up a indoor room so you can be prevegging. If you put plants out early enough you'll get a spring harvest if its warm enough where you live. I dont see the reason to only do outdoor. Even people who crop a years worth in a single outdoor harvest benifit from a indoor garden imo if only to stay busy. Generally fresh indoor is more pleasant to smoke that 9 month old outdoor too so theres always that.
