What do the reps mean....

Ok so I know this is totally dumb and I may be hella stoned right now but I was wondering what the difference between the reps were. When I get reps sometimes I get solid green ones and sometimes I get blank squares...and whats the deal with them?? how many do you need to jump up to more than one or more than two or more htan three hahaha I knwo I shouldnt care but i am just soooo damn curious.....
