ill be honest... im dissapointed with my first grow results. heres what i did?

i vegged for 1 month
flowered for 8 weeks (trichromes were just starting to turn amber. it was mostly clear and cloudy with a few amber) i know i should of waited longer
then i hung dried them in a box for 4 days. they were real crispy and bone dry after this.
then i put them in a glass jar and opened it for at least a half hour everyday.

its been about 3 weeks since they been in the jar and from what ive smoked im not happy at all. i found a few seeds that started to grow, it doesnt smell like weed at all and it not that strong. anyone have any tips for next time.

thanks:bigjoint:

More than likely. Also what nutes are you using?? Did the plant smell as it was growing? If it does not smell like weed then what..... fresh cut grass?

i used all fox farm nutes throughout at the labels guide. they did smell when growing. whenever you rubbed your fingers in it and then smelled them oh my god it was orgasmic. it smelled like the best weed ever... now yeah cut grass. but i cured them... im so confused i thought i did everything right

You can't "bone dry" the weed before jarring it . . . and if you did, the only possible way you might get a sweat and cure would be by leaving that jar closed at least 24 hours before quickly checking (burping) it. Proper curing requires moisture.

so thats why? damn... thanks. now i know for next time. so dont leave it open for so long and put them in the jar when there a lil wet still? i was scared they would rot and mold

Well, if you jar them too wet, and don't allow enough "breathing time" when you do open your jar(s) then mold would be a concern. I hang mine 4-5 days in a cool, dark area . . . until the bud itself feels dry to the touch, then jar them. I think mold is mainly a prob for folks who don't have enough time to take care of their weed . . . not a problem for me.
Here's some more good info . . . Roxi-cure

I use apple slices, and I leave them in for about 2 hrs, take them out and eat, YUMMY. Oh also I would let them veg for at least 2.5 months. Patience pays off in heavy yeilds.

he is right, i have even done this (your story sounds just like my first grow nutes and all), just put a slice of fruit skin and let it sit for one day, then you will notice buds will be surprisingly soft , remove slice and cure them as normal, with the burping and everything, in about 2 weeks to a month your buds smell will change and taste better and you will be alot happier with it. the hard part is not smoking it before then.:weed: no one likes pinetree buds

i gave one cola to my gf and hers is in a plastic bag that doesnt close and mine is in the jar. and i actually did re moisten mine about a week or 2 ago and have just started smoking mine again. we been smoking hers which is why i asked this question and i think this definately works. my stash is soooo much better than hers. :-)

So that's what I've been doing wrong! Had the same thing happen to my buds. I let them dry for about a week(way too long before going into jars) and they turned out all crispy and funny looking. I am going to try the apple slice thingy. Sometimes I've used potato slices to moisten my bud but, not to re-moisten then cure them again. I will try that starting right now. Thanks for the info, learn something new everyday, because knowledge is power! Peace all and happy tokin'!

orange peel works too, we used to do that when we bought weed that was too dry. If it's too wet a little bit of bread helps.

Make sure you trim all of the leaves off of it too. The leaves can make it taste shitty.

another good way is to just fold up a little piece of paper towle and dampen it.
then you dont alter the taste of the dope. bread is crap because you get bread crumbs everywhere

I don't think it was the seeds. Could have been anything from temps, to lights, to nutes to PH. I grew Bag seed that came out bomb. On first and second harvest. Need more details, is there a journal for this grow?

Adding moisture and re-curing them might help out. Orange peel slice and keep them in a jar for 24 hours. Then burp them. Should regain moisture well. Give us an update.

well my gf's stash is still re-curing we havent smoked any yet. but i did this with my stash a couple weeks ago and it works. if i can give one piece of advise to someone whos about to have their first harvest i would say MAKE SURE YOU CURE CORRECTLY. cuz we smoked 10 grams of half cured bud and i wish i didnt. :dunce::wall:
