So i looked at my yellow sticky strip and what i can gather i think their fungus knats but just want someone to confirm it! What can fungus knats do? I got "gnat off" and used the first dose last week with nutes but im going to give them another dose tomorrow with just plain water. Im currently in coco but got the cuttings off a guy who grew them in soil so im presuming this is where they have come from?!

Feeding every 3 days when the pots feel half the weight when i last watered with 15ml A&B and 20ml of rhizo per 10L of water. The plants are to me showing signs of N defiency but im feeding enough surely? There only 2 weeks into veg, the one below is the tallest one. There growing propper slow. If they dont improve in a couple of weeks there getting burnt. Can the fungus gnats stunt the plants growth? Thanks in advance everyone!

Confirmed!!!!

Fungus gnats aka fruit flies.

GNATOFF
GNATROL
Go gnats
SPINOSAD
Mosquito dunks

Or the completely organic way is to use predators.

Either predatory nematodes, or hypoaspis miles. Not both together.

Just to clear things up for a second...fungus gnats are NOT the same thing as fruit flies.

can anyone answer my other questions? thank you

Fungus Gnats

Fungus gnats like to feed on roots of the plants and organic matter. Adults and larvae live in moist, shady areas. The larvae will start by eating the root hairs of the plant then working their way up the plant, Fungus gnats like to eat organic matter so they will be stealing away nutrients from your plants, so i believe the answer is yes :)

Are you testing your EC/ppm/TDS?

If so personally at that size I would running at 1-1.2ec.

That's 500/700ppm depending upon your conversion factor.

Yes they look like they could be fed a bit stronger.

If your unsure about how many ml to make it to 1-1.2EC check the canna website for their nutrient calculator and choose coco nutes light feeding. You can also put your water container size into it which will give you a straight number of ml for everything.

J

Even in coco? They look like they need more N but im already feeding all that like i stated before? Pissing me off

It does look like nitrogen deficiency but that really doesnt make sense to me since they are so young and you are already giving them nitrogen.
Even in coco I would let it dry out more than half weight. Usually plants that are underwatered are green and wilting. Plants that are overwatered are yellowing and wilting. I am not sure, but just throwing out a suggestion.

Yo J thanks for the feedback man, i dont test EC i really should do though! Can these bugs litrally be sucking the life out of my girls?

Yo althor, to be honest you maybe right about overwatering...i could be causing lock out because of this? My PH never variates and is always at 5.8 so i dont think thats an issue??

As long as you water when its lost around 50% weight (which you are!) then this is fine for coco.

I do the same.

Coco can be watered upto 2 times a day IME without overwatering issues occurring. Due to the good oxygen draw in during watering.

With those stems so purple, are your temps above 65f/18c during dark hours? If so you need to feed them heavier. The node spacing alone to me screams more nutes!

J

You may also want to pick up some Trichoderma fungi to apply which should help to outcompete any soil pests such as fungus gnats.

I use Trichoderma and mychorhizal fungi.

Fungus gnats in small numbers have a very minimal effect on plants as long as you seek to get rid of them.

The GNATOFF you're using contains BT Becilous thirengiensis or something. I doubt my spelling is right. It works by stopping the larvae from eating thus killing them. You could just be seeing the remainders of ones just missed your dosing.

Keep up the dosing and keep up the sticky traps.

Lights on temps at canopy are around 26-27 and lights off are around 20-21. I thought the cold temps brought out the purple? Fuck it what should i up the feed to In your opinion? Thinking about an extra 5ml so around 20ml A&B? Theres no burn on there?

True, i will do man, thanks for all the advice J, appreicated!

I would up it to 20ml yes.

I use 18ml per 10litres of AQUA VEGA by canna that gets me to 1.2EC but my water is 0.2EC.

I don't use coco specific nutes in coco. Lol. I add extra calmag to compensate because I can use the aqua vega the whole way through veg and flower, but that's a whole other story. Lol.

Here's my schedule ml per litre but I add 1ml per 10litres of mono Ca and mono Mg too.

Feeding schedule ml per litre
Rooting EC0.9
Rhizotonic 4ml
Vega AB 1.4ml

Veg 1 EC1.1
Vega AB 1.8ml
Rhizotonic 2ml

Veg 2 EC1.4
Vega AB 2.4ml
Rhizotonic 2ml

Flower EC1.6
Vega AB 2.9ml
Rhizotonic 0.5ml

Same as above but with PK1314. EC1.8. After PK week drop to EC1.2 for 2-3weeks. Then flush if desired.
