Wha'chu know 'bout dem LEDs

Don't know anyone who has tried them first hand but the people I know who are in "the know" told me not to waste my $. In fact, my hydro guy told me if the claims the LED light makers were true, he said there would be a line up around the block for them and he'd never be able to keep them in stock. (take that for what it's worth) anyways, I know of no "good old boy" who would trade them out for their HPS or metals. Wouldn't it be great if we could escape the heat from our other choices...but it sounds to me like it's not meant to be...
 
First off leds are awesome. I would never go back to hps. Efdl induction lights are just as good too.

Leds are expensive initially. Thats the turn off. But no bulbs to replace. Half the wattage. Much much less heat.


Those spot lights are crap. Not enough watts to do anything. For flower you want 36 watts per sq ft. For veg 25 watts per sq ft.

The htg led panels are rebrands of apollo led's and zs led's from cidly. I rock apollo 10's 367 watts 180 x 3w led.

Apollos Drive their led the most 2.4 watts per diode.

Half of those companies will do custom spectrum per your request.


Never listen to a guy at the hydro shop. Most of the time they don't have a clue. They are just about money and will give bad advice. So you will spend more money to fix what went wrong. They want you to.spend more money on bulbs.


There is plenty of journals on all those lights in the led section. Each journal.proves the haters wrong.

Well for certain I will be checking those light companies out when I am finished writing this.. But mybe I should clarify. Those spot lights would be suplimental. I am moving into a new room and adding an extra 1000w light (raptor hood) that was a gift for christmas on jan 1st. These 3000w will each be over a 6 plant UC system I am building (comments are welcome on this as well, its my first go) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4k9R2g022c). So each group of plants will have enough light. I will be adding some sup light though, I was thinking about 2 8ft t5s and 2 4ft around the parimeter, but as I am an electrician adding spot light fixtures would be no extra cost (the panel I use to wire the room and other stuff are surplus and old stuff from work) and those LED spots seemed like a good idea.

Another question in regards to changing light bulbs. I have heard from some haters that after a year or two severl of the diodes will be out and that even though the light works it will no longer work at optimum effeicancy and that the only option to fix it is to uy an entirely new light.

None of this is ment as an argument just explaining my situation and what i have heard thus far.
 
For spot lights check out par led . Home depot, fero, kessil, led wholesellers, advanced led. Thats a good company too.

The diodes that burn out is commom with blackstars. Which was the most popular led for a while. I think they are crap.

The apollos I use are modular design. Apollo 10 has 10 modules with 15 led's. If one module goes out the rest still work. Theres a system that lets you know if a diode, driver or fan goes out. Lets you know which one by blinking lights.

Most led's have 3 year warranty. Apache have a 2 year warranty but designed hy nasa and ed rosenthal. Then inda gro imduction lights have a 10 year warranty.

Cidly is in china so if something breaks they will send you the part with instructions to minimize down time. If you are unable to repair with their intruction. They will pay shipping to send it back for repairs or a new one.

Also fero and area 51 have a life time warranty. Area51 is having a holiday sale.

Also almost every company will give discounts for buying multiple lights. Even if just 2 lights.
