Welthink Ballasts WARNING

I purchased 20 1000W ballasts from Welthink in Virgina Beach, VA. Within 6 weeks ALL 20 failed, one almost burned down my house. These units are serious S**T!!! To top it all off when I called Sonny (ironic name) at Welthink he told me that the smoked units were not covered under the 3 year swap out warranty they claim. He tried to feed me some bulls**t that the damage wasn't covered and that I had tampered with the units. Having not even seen the faulty units, I find it hard to believe that plugging them in is considered "tampering" with them.

Save your money and buy a ballast from Lumatek or another reliable source. These Welthink made in China crap ballasts aren't worth their weight in horse s**t.

It seems as though this isn't an isolated incident either. I did a little searching and Welthink ballasts are very well known to be garbage among growers. I just wish that these posts had of been available before I got burned by Welthink! There is actually a website out there that is exposing them www.welthink.info

Anyways, heads up to anyone considering buying Welthink products...

I would stay away from Lumatek one of my 1000s blew up, when taking it back
a guy who bought 12 600's was returning 6 of them from blowing up.

Good experience with NextGen though!

Welthink honors 3 years warranty. But it has a premise, that is, without manufacturer's permission, no modification was made.

You needn't worry about this. If your ballast was not modified by the distributor, Welthink will honor 3 years warranty.

Sonny even shipped us out 48 Welthink brand (Not OEM) 1000W warranty replacement units that ALL FAILED within a few months.

NO MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE to these units. This is a cover up by Welthink and Sonny. We will be publishing emails, skype conversations, etc. with the jokers as proof.

As you can clearly see, Welthink is trying to sidestep their responsibility associated with their 3 year warranty. You can also clearly see that we have been trying to handle the issue in a reasonable manner up until now.

Sometimes the only way to deal with a scamming company like Welthink is to hang their dirty laundry out where everyone can see it.

Also, by no means is the above conversation even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the months of proof we have compiled.

If Sonny is a straight up guy then why doesn't he send one of his so called "unmodified" units to a legit independent unbiased 3rd party for inspection and we will do the same thing with one of these bunk units that Welthink sold us and we can all see who is trying to F**K who here????

The longer you try to avoid your legal responsibilities the worse it's going to get Welthink. Everything we post is 100% truthful and will be submitted as evidence in the law suit that will be following shortly.

buy ballasts from advance... trust no other manufacturer, advance is the real deal, what pros use. the other crappy shiot you buy from hydro stores and online shops are overpriced b/s gimmicks... a magnetic ballast is a transformer, a peice of wire wrapped around a solid metal core... a digital ballast uses a triac and some transistors to do the same thing a magnetic one does.
why pay for some bullshit when you can you have the best made for less...

i dont know. I had a magnetic that worked I thot fine. I bought a lumatek and with the same bulb when I plugged it in I was stunned. I thought that the 30 percent brighter claim was gonna be nothing to be noticed but I noticed. In a big way this was much brighter. I have two now, a 400 and a 600 and they work perfect. Hot starts are a pain but work. Shit happens. They come in professional boxes, obviously well cared for and have a five eyar warranty. Lumatek, but for 20 I have no idea about that league. GL. I did a lot of research tho and would not touch anything but Lumatek and maybe quantum digital.

I own a hydro store, and I talk with sonny regularly. I've never met the man before, but he has helped me every time I talk with him. also, lumatek, galaxy, and about 99% of all digital ballasts are made in china. I've sold about 100-120 of the welthink ballasts and only had a problem with 2.

My Lumetek is still going strong, so is the second 600 I purchased.

If you people believe lumatek and quantum to not be made in china, well you are just ignorant and fooling yourselves.

The truth is very few manufactures MAKE digital ballast, however many BRANDS sell them.

Internally, much of these ballast are the same. What you are buying and paying for is brand name, and of course there advertising budget.

Though i am not affiliated with welthink, i do use there products.

I have never known sonny to deny anyone a warranty. If you open a ballast and modify its internal workings, why on earth would the manufacture back up that product? its not even there product anymore.

I encourage ANYONE that believes a word of what this Mike person says to contact Sonny and make your own decision.

Everyone that reads this should email welthink, tell them you bought a ballast from wherever and it went bad.

Anyone who doesn't take the words of warning will be sorry. I purchased the units from Welthink directly and never modified anything. Welthink ballasts are shit... 100% shit.. end of story. Do a little research and you will see that this is not an isolated problem. In fact, I'll put up the cash to buy 1 400w, 1 600w and 1 1000w just to have them delivered to an unbiased 3rd party to prove to everyone once and for all that Welthink ballasts are shit!!!

You my friend have been called out! First folks let me start by saying ive only registered here to help you out a bit. Welthinks ballast, leds, and most everything else blows to be frank. I own a hydro shop, and let me tell you its never easy to get a new unit or have yours fixed. We dont carry it anymore, It is true most lights are manufactured in china, no doubt. But our American wholesalers etc, require higher standards, welthink is a direct deal with retailer company, so they are up to chinese standards.

Now on to our little friend who has changed one letter in his or her name to appear to be a " neutral party"," who only uses welthinks products but doesnt know sonny" Those are your words correct?

PS: I own a hydro shop, I have so many returned ballasts and leds its sickening. I shared the above to let everyone know KOWGOMOO IS A FRAUD. By their own words, they have no affiliation other than being a user of the product, ummmm well ya sell a ton of it on ebay. Gotcha sucker, you have alot of nerve, but obviously not alot of brains. Why Lie? I as a store owner have had to bite the bullet and give refunds on multiple lights from Welthink. Sonny asked that in the leds we change the ignitors, never did, why you ask? Because as soon as we would of, the so called warranty would be invalid due to missuse or tamperment. Sonny new that, and I called him on it, i sent back a 300 watt led, he sent a 90 watt ufo, lets be serious. Thats the only one he ever honored as a warranty, all the others sit at my shop and rot, well actually some still have a row or 2 of lights working so at night we glow the front of our store with them, it attracts attention at night, but they are broken, multiple rows of lights out etc. The ballasts run good on average abot 6 months to a year, then all hell breaks loose. Anyway folks a class action sounds good about now. And if anyone needs any help or info, let me know. We can always call Sonny at home, I do have the number. Except the language barrier is insane.
