currently using a flood and drain system with a 20 gallon reservoir. Wondering if it's as easy as just switching to the new nutrients on my next water change… Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
 
yep, just as easy, dont forget some fresh water cycle in between, plants like that for a minute or two. I used to hand water my pots right before res change.
 
Thanks for the info. Glad to hear it's nice and easy! One more question tho...my friend who has been running a flood and drain and swears by running a sterile res. Should I go this route as well? Biggest benifits and problems involved? Thanks again!

Personally I run a sterile res. I use SM90 at 2.5ml or 3ml per gallon of water in vegging and flowering up until Week 7.

I find it helps stop pathogens running into your res or inhibits it from spreading. It's a tad expensive but it takes care of future problems if they were to arise. It's also systematic and it helps with other issues as well, just look around on the net and you'll see.

Let's put it this way ...

I don't grow in DWC without it.
I use it for soiless plants as well.

So I checked my plants today and noticed that some of the leaves i'm starting to fade to a yellowish color and also have brown dogs on them… Is this from too much fertilization? I'm only running Fox farm nutrients at half strength. Here are a couple pics of the leaves so you can see what I'm talking about. The 3rd pic is the tops...The new growth all looks nice and green in comparison

Ppm 750 by my meter. New one in the mail by Thursday. The one I have is almost a year old but seems to calibrate properly.
 
yep, too strong nutes = burn, nute lockout etc

i'd flush for 24 hrs with plain water and start back on much lighter nutes
 
I just hope the owner of miracle grow doesn't screw us over now that he got his dirty hands on the General Hydroponics company.

Something tells me we might have to switch to AN eventually. NOT happy !
 
So I just ordered two 600 Watt metal highlight high-pressure sodium combos… And both with digital ballasts! I'm super excited and also looking forward to the heat admitted as my basement temps right now hover and even 60° constantly I feel like the temps are stunting my plants growth considerably. Also because my basement is 60 my water temperature in my reservoir is also 60. So I ordered a submersible heater to put in my tank… Hoping The warm Rez and warmer air temps get my girls growing faster! Any thoughts? Would 60° temps both air and reservoir stunt my growth that much? I bought two fruity pebbles Clones and one super silver haze clone. I have been LSTing the crap outta em tho but look how small they are! They were purchased on July 26 as clones already with a considerable root mass. Hoping it's just my temperatures
