Weird one-hour lighting during dark period...

Hi there! Just read somewhere that turning the light on for one hour during the dark period would increase the chances of getting females... can't find any reasonable explanation for this so I think it might be an hoax... still, as a newbie, I feel as I should ask before taking my own conclusions.
Is it an hoax or is it true?
