weak steams wont support leaves

My seedlings have popped up super fast. The stems are about 10 cm long with 1 set of nice dark green leaves. The problem is the steam is to long and weak to support the top leaf and it just falls over. I tried proping it up to no avail. the steam is also kinda brown and not as green as the leafs, could this be a nutrient problem? What do you think I should do? thanks

your lights are probably too far from the top of the plants. you could try lowering them as far as you can without it being too hot for your hand placed at the top of the plants. you can bury the stem in soil or you can stake up the plant.

You have it to far away from the lights. Move it closer to the lights. What kind of lights are you using anyway? You should read the growFAQ at the top, it's chock full of information.

im using 12 42 watt CFL's 6 per plant, they are in agoro grow soil i keep the lights 2 cm away from the tops, (which isint that high considering the problem) i think i will bury the steam a little more, how much steam should i leave above the soil? thay are about 10 cm tall right now, thanks guys and keep posting.

What is the spectrum on the cfls? You should be using the 6500K daylight bulbs.

We really need pics, you seedlings shouldn't be that leggy if the lights are that close.

Replant them with the soil just under the set of leaves. It'll make them stand upright better.

yea im using 6500 right now and i have some 2700's for veg, i have some pics, i just have to find my usb cable
