So i have heard from many people that one of the most common mistakes of a new grower is over watering..... i have heard people say many different numbers..... so if i use soil(retains good amounts of water) should i water 2 times a day? and how much? i remember reading that if the soil is moist you shouldnt water it

thanks guys

wait until the soil pulls away from the edges of the pot or the top 2 inches of the soil is dry. Don't be afraid to let the soil dry out! No one can tell you how often to water, but 2 times a day is way to much. When my seedlings are small I water my 16 ounce cups once every 4 to 7 days, you'll get the hang of it soon enough!

I'll repeat myself, you don't need to water everyday, if they're still seedlings, probably every 4 to 7 days!

ok that makes more sense, and so after seedlings just follow that general rule of thumb (water when soil is 2 inches dry) or is there something else

thanks a ton man.... you just saved me from killing my plants lol, i watched one of the grow it movies and he said 2-3 times a day

For example, my plants are all in flower. They're in from 1-3 gallon planters and are 10"-20" tall. It's rare that any need water more than once every 4-5 days . . . and it's been HOT in the grow room, like 100. If this is gonna be a big issue for you, a water wand might help.
It's a meter with a long probe that you stick down in your soil to gauge it's dampness and depth. Not super expensive, like 10-15 bux @W-Mart, etc.

No problem man, I'm subscribed so if you have any other questions I'll be happy to help you out! Your finger is the best moisture meter, don't waste your money on that! Which video told you to water 3 times a day, are you sure it wasn't for hydroponic growing?
