Watered Testicles? A Couple Questions...

1)
I accidentally over poured some of my nute/water mix last night. It was more water than i usually use but i figured the plants would survive the night.

Just looked at em this morning and the smaller plant is drooping heavily and the leaves on both plants are becoming dry and brittle.

Over water/nute problem or something else? Will it recover?

2)
Ive been trying to sex this plant for some time now (its almost 2 wks into flowering)
The smaller, drooping plant has formed a (singular, one, 1) ball at the nodes. It is definately not new growth so im guessing its starting to sex. Is a ball evidence of a male? What does it look like to you?

3) The bigger healthier plant isnt showing signs of sex yet, but i posted some pictures anyway. Any guesses?

Dang what was in that water? And yeah the one showing looks like a boy but give it a bit to make sure....but really WTF was in that water?

Just my 10-20-10 nute mix.

The plants most likely got over-nutes as well. I dont want to flush it however, fearing that more water will kill it.

Ill let them recover for 4 days. They should be sexed by then and if the little guy really is a guy then it wont matter. His days are numbered

BUT if its a girl i will be weeping heavily.

I hope the big one is a girl...

So herein lies the problem.

Over watered AND over nute.

If i flush, it dies from too much water
If i dont flush, the nutes and salts will build up and kill it.

Damned if i do, damned if i dont.

What do i do?

Haha to be honest (and completely stupid) ive never checked the PH yet because ive been too poor and lazy to buy testing strips.

So, lets just assume that the PH sucks
They were growing beautifully before though, so i didnt think it was a problem.

I agree with Pookie... it needs to be flushed. If you have adequate drainage holes in the bottom it should not drown....

You need to get those plants into their own container. The longer you wait the more the roots become tangled and the more damage you will do to them later when you try to separate them. Transplant now and mix some perlite in with your soil to provide better drainage.... future flushing will be a snap.

As an experiment grow (1st time) i cant transplant them. I was hoping to get 1 male and 1 female so that i could just kill the one and let the other keep growing.

I know now to keep them in separate pots (next time i will use large cups instead).

But, the pot does have OK drainage, but the soil doesnt. When i try to flush, the water takes forever to go down so flushing may very well drown them to a point of no return.

I might just want to transplant outside, and just do the black garbage bag thing for 12/12 light.

I did as you said and flushed the plants. I think it killed them. Both are wilted and droopy.

What can i do to save them?

it doesn't look like overwatering was the culprit here. i'm not soil grower, so not an expert in this area, but it looks like they're burnt. either it's too hot for them, or you burned them really really bad with your last shot of nutrients.

what kind of lighting are you using? what are your temps in your growing area? these are questions which will help us help you

:peace:

5 CFLs from 13-200watt
Temps arent very hot in there. Must be the nutes.

Flushing made them 1000000000 times worse. The water made them shrivel and soggy

As I see it now you have a couple of choices..... let them be and see how they do.... or transplant them to a new container and if you do this... make sure you have 75% soil 25% Perlite mix so the drainage is better. You have to be able to flush your plants when you grow.

doesn't look to good. i think pics 1&2 were males neway. if they were in the same pot as the others your better off starting over neway. good luck and carefull with the nutes 1/4 streangth is the rule i go by

Learning experience.
In my case, any nutes I mix and save as plant water have been blended such that they would help any plant and hurt none. That way, should I forget what I'm doing, I've done no harm. This pertains to having multiple plants, but could help anyone saving ready-to-go nute-water avoid such mishaps.
Better a light feeding than a fatal over-dose.
Better luck next time.

Well they both died completely.

1st grow: Went from perfectly good to miserable failure overnight.:cry::cry::cry:

Sorry to hear that.... chalk it up to learning. I lost my first plants because I didn't know the PH or PPM and things were fine one day and went downhill the next. It happens. Make adjustments and try again.

Next attempt, make sure you mix Perlite with your soil (75% soil 25% perlite). It's essential in container growing to be able to flush your plants without killing them when you have over nute mishaps... and also as a regular task every few weeks to prevent normal salt buildups. Without adequate drainage flushing can be fatal.... Perlite will help make your soil light and airy and provide much better drainage.

Knowing the PH is also really important because if it's out of the acceptable range it locks out the nutes and causes havoc on your plants. Additionally ... knowing what's going on with the salt build up is very helpful to growing. Hydro growers HAVE to use a PPM meter to determine what's going on... soil growers don't have to.... but it's a good idea to have one. That way if you do think you over nuted you can test the runoff of the water to see what the PPM (dissolved salts) is. If you don't want to buy a PPM meter then a good rule of thumb is to flush your plants every few weeks with distilled (or RO) water PH'd correctly to get the salt buildup out of your plant.

Hempy is an excellent way to grow (I grow this way) and it's really an easy way to grow. You can do this method with soil... or a soiless medium (soiless requires knowing the PH & PPM). Anyway... check out that thread.... it really is a great easy way to grow.

Good luck :D
