Still water ok?

Keep refrigerated after opening and discard after 3 days? No, I don't think that sounds like water that is good for your plant.

it seems like a warning they put on all their bottled water products surely it's better than the shit that is pouring out of my taps?

What in that water is going to spoil in 3 days? And yes, it very well may be, it doesn't mean that it is good for your plants though. WTH is "still" water? I tried to Google it, but there are too many damn places called still water, even a band....

i think still is just not fizzy to be honest - looks like it may just be tap water :P

wish they had a list of what was in there

do you know any decent affordable filtration systems?

For starters, you can get a Brita pitcher to filter your tap water, but it only does a gallon at a time. If you have only one or two plants, it could be a solution. That store water is probably OK too, if they are selling it for drinking. It just odd that a label would tell you to discard water after opening, in three days.. thats very odd.

I'm concerned about the water where I am as it is HARD and full of horrible things

I put bat, insect, and worm poop in my soil or water for my plants, so just how bad can your water be:

Questions:
  • If the water from your water source is so hard and full of "horrible things", what do you use it for?
  • Do you bathe with it?
  • Do you cook and wash cooking utensils with it?
  • Have you ever thought that the "horrible things" that you say are in the water might be alright for a plant?
  • Can you collect rain water (that is, if you get much rain)
  • Why not boil and store water for your plants, after boiling for 10 minutes and letting it cool to room. This should get rid of a lot of those "horrible things"
Still or Dead water usually does not have anything in it, no minerals etc. I don't know what bad things hard water might do to plants, if anything.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Still water is water from a still. As in distilled, from a still. It will work just fine, but you can expect fairly wild ph swings depending on what you're using for nutrients.

is your tap water from a well or municipal supply? if its from a well and its safe to drink its fine, if you cant drink it then it still might be ok. if it tastes bad due to extra minerals, get it tested, if you have a well you should do this yearly any way to be sure it hasn't become contaminated. if the tests come back saying its potable (safe to drink) you are good to go, if they say its usable for irrigation and live stock then make sure it doesnt have an excess of sulfer or iron and you should be ok. if its municipal water and you live in a fairly modernized area you are probably safe.

in most places still water means non carbonated bottled water

im assuming its prolly the same as distilled water, which i have heard you should use on all seedlings and clones, and it seems to work good for me.

i typically water with tap water after letting it stand for 24 hours in an open container but i buy distilled water to start new plants with to ensure they get pure water and no infections or what not at first

to be honest - i'm not sure if the hard water is a problem or not - i am asking the question if anyone has had any experience with hard water affecting their plants

basically it is the water that makes washing machines and dishwashers fall to pieces within 2 years

not great

fill a bucket of water put a water softener tab in it let it sit for 24hrs ..this will dissipitate clorine and iron out of your water....check the ph ..it should be 6.8-7.0 don't use anything over 7.0..if it is use ph up ..or ph down ..to adjust it...

How many ppm, or what's your EC for the water?

Don't waste time and money on distilled water, just get a water filter. Either tap-mounted, in-line, or pitcher, whatever is practical for your situation. If your water is chlorinated or fluoridated and the filter doesn't remove it, you may need to let the water sit for a day.

IMO, SCCA and MsBBB have the right idea.
