water chiller coil???

i just added a 1hp water chiller to my ebb and flow setup, it was 1400$ and cant see spending another 150 for the coil that sunlight supply sales. anybody recommend a cheap way out of this one? it dont seem to much of a problem because i know kinda what i need but just not sure where to get it. i hear copper is bad to use but what about aluminum like a heater core for a car? please help im new here. thankx.

why is copper bad? copper is in every home supplying water.

i read online a couple different times that the nutrient eats away at copper. even though the guy at the hydro store said to get copper or stainless. i just cant afford to lose my girls. thanks for responding so fast man.

hmmm not sure about the nutes breaking down the wall, sounds doubtful ...look at all the chemicals that the city pumps into the water supply and copper last 40 plus years.

stay away from putting any metal in your nutes unless it is stainless steel. i got my 50' wort chillers off ebay for around $60-70 if i remember correctly.

yep...what you want is a wort chiller (coil). most brewing supply stores sell them. here's a link for a $45 one. http://www.nybrewsupply.com/wort-chillers/3-8-x-25-stainless-steel-wort-chiller.html

definitely stay away from copper. it will corrode over time and leave trace minerals in your nutrient solution. only use food grade stainless steal.

ooh! Trace minerals.. I think ill throw some copper shavings in my next batch of supersoil mix. <3
