Watching for males and females....

I know what pollen sacs look like when they are out and it's usually too late. I know what hairs look like.
The question I have is how long does it take for the male to show on estimate?
What are EARLY warning signs if any?
Any help, especially pics would be of great help.

I am not trying to be a smart as but if you know what pollen sacs look like and what calyxs look like what is the question?
Early warning signs? Watch your plant closer.
Good Luck

This is my third time growing. The second time was a disaster. i have a few promising plants that just went into flower 2 days ago. I am aware that this is too early to see anything. The first time I grew I had 5 out of 6 turn female but since it was my first time growing i wasn't really sure what to look for as the earliest signs of a male.
I might not be explainging right as I have a problem communicating sometimes.
I just was wondering if there is like a 'pre-sac' or other growth that gives it away immediately.

Yes, I understand that. it's just the earliest sign of the sacs is what i don't know how to recognize.

That's what you misunderstand............. The sacs ARE the earliest signs. :) There's not a pre-ballsac, its just the stem. Check the plants once a day is plenty. If you arent sure if its a male, keep it another day. You'll know really fast if it is, because the ball sacs will be more and more and all the females will be producing little hairs going up. Balls hang down.

If you worry so much about what to see before sacs, you'll end up throwing away plants that arent even really showing a sex, but freaking you out. Calm down, dont worry. :) I remember when learning to grow I was very anxious over plucking the males out. It really isnt as hard as it sounds, its wicked easy, and if you check your garden every day you'll be fine.

Is there an average estimate of days before this can happen. Mine have only been in for two days so I know I need more patience. Also, the males do show before the females right?

Plants generally sex at the same time. Males arent first, neither are females, they just are at once together.

Plants can take up to two weeks to show their sex, but generally in about 5-7 days. You could google this question, or perhaps READ a grow journal to see pictures as people update them too. It took me a year of growing before I felt good about every aspect of my job. It comes with time and patience...........

Do yourself a favor next time. Buy feminized seeds.

It takes practice to learn. We can tell you and show you pictures but it will still take time to learn. Males usually show first, there is your earliest warning sing. If you are growing the same strains then the first that show a little growth are males. Get a magnifying glass to help get a better look or digital camera with a nice little zoom.
Thanks for not taking offense I really wasn't trying to be too much of a smart ass previously. Starting about the 4th week from seed on the signs will start to appear, you are just going to have to watch a few grows daily during this time so you know what to look for. It just takes time and I have looked for the thread with good pics on sexing early, I will keep looking.
Merry Christmas

The only reason I am freaking is because i have a great plant and am dying for it to be a girl.

so the first 2 pics are of my first grow and the others are now right before flowering.

Everything i am doing right now is just experimental on PHX bag seed. Before you say anything, the first time I grew I did EVERYTHING wrong or backwards and had GREAT results, check the pics. Miracle gro, had my NPKs backward, tap water and not an exact light cycle.

Now I have two spaces set. One for veg, one for flower. Timers, decent lights, I got my pH down and am using organic soil and NICE ferts.

But as I said before this is just two runs of experiments like, 'let's see what happens if' or 'let's see what happens when' and that kind of stuff. Practicing with clones and different techniques for sprouting seeds.

I am waiting on my order for real beans. I am getting, Norther lights #1 x Big Bud, A bubble pack with white rhino and white widow, a sagarmatha mix, kandy kush, aphrodite and some La Blanca.
All femenized.
