Was wondering if I could bounce some questions of people?

The temps are between 19 & 25. I have an exhaust and an intake! Never got round to seeing the new vid but you say you've removed it now. I've rearranged some of the straps so the filter and exhaust are level. Need to get a prefilter now!

My main question is the lights.




I have go a 600w HPS for this set up, is this too much? I have seen them on display in various shops and I don't think heat would be an issue but I have read some people struggling with heat with 400w. :/

<600 watts is fine for your set-up, a good size.>


I have also got a 125w CFL which I wanted to use for vegging or at least the first couple of weeks from seedling state. I have been advised the HPS will be too strong for my girls at that stage. Do you agree?
<HPS is cooler running than MH so you made a god choice if heat is an issue. Some advise a smaller light for new seedlings but I don't think it is necessary. However, I do move new s'lings farther from the light the first week or 2 in dirt. I veg at 400W HSP.>



To start the germination process I was going to use the method of soaking them in a glass, rather than the damp towel method, again I would like to ask about this and if its okay?

<Some swear by the damp towel but I have seen problems with the towel being too heavy for germinating seeds. I use 6 layers of paper towels with the seeds in the middle. BE SURE TO SEAL THE TOWEL OR PAPER TOWELS IN A LARGE SEALABLE PLASTIC BAGGIE!!! If you don't everything dries out and you buy more seeds. Get used to the paper towel method as it has the highest success rate.>


Planning on using root riot cubes along with hygrozyme, how do I start this? I know I have to soak them but how so? Literally water them? Along with the feed? I have got a propagator the size of a toolbox so they would go in there, at this point would it need to be in darkness?
<Why are you committed to using products you don't know anything about? If riot cubes are like pellets fine. Forget the fancy add-ons and learn to use paper towels, water and a baggie.>



I'm thinking I have to put the seeds which have sprouted roots into the riot cubes and then I have to wait for them to sprout in the propagator? Then into the actual box under cfls?

<Paper towel into baggie, seal, check 48 hours later, re-seal, should have 3/4 to 1 1/2 root by day 3. Put them into dirt in a solo cup. Leave in solo cup until s'ling is twice as tall as cup is wide, about 6 inches. Transplant.>


Also planning on 4/5 girls in there, can do more if anyone thinks otherwise.
<Size is a factor of pot size and length of veg period, mostly. For smaller plants figure at least 4 square feet of floor space per plant flowering. If you do have separate veg and flower rooms you can increase yield by staggering finish times.>



From what I have read, I wouldn't need the extractor fan on until flowering or when the HPS is on, wasn't 100%.
<Use the fan for heat when the temps get over the mid-80's in the room. A 20" box fan ($20 @ WalMart) will solve 90% of (my)heat problems. A ceiling fan is goodif you don't use a tent.>



I was going to buy an air cooled lamp but with the light being raised I thought there would be a problem with the ducting, was I wrong?
<You shouldn't need ductwork for a small tent. Can you regulate temps via opening/closing tent or using a small fan?>



I have got all the equipment today and I have got my seeds today and using the coco method. I am planning on doing 1 x Purple Haze (G13 Labs) 1 x Money Maker (Strainhunters - Was curious to what it is like ), 1x c99 (Femenized seeds) and 1 x Northern Lights (Ministry of Cannabis) and 1 x Liberty Haze (Barneys Farms).

< The NL tends to be pretty leggy. Means it gets tall. I top them at around 2 weeks in dirt in the veg room. I want them 18-24 inches when they go from 20/4 to 12/12. That's about 4 weeks in dirt for clones and another week for seedlings. That size means they finish around 40-48 inches which is just where I want them under my 1000W HPS flower bulb.


I have also got another tent which is the same size but I cant get both going due to height restrictions, but if i was to just use one bar so it would be approximately 1m high, would the original covering and that fit? I know there is going to be a ton of slack but could it be used?
<Use smaller tent for vegging>

I was wondering can I continue to use the 125W CFL for longer than 3 weeks, i.e. for most of the vegg or would I have to switch to my 600W?

You will get more growth from the 600W set-up. But the 125 will do the job with more time and less yield. BigSteve.

I want the yield! So I am switching the bulb nw, Got it about 2 ft away and will bring it closer. Temps hit 28 degrees celsius tho!
