Wall covering.

I'm revamping a grow closet. The inside walls are painted white. I want to cover the walls as to create a more controlled environment. My question is what's best to line the walls with. I have seen pics of gold Mylar or white plastic sheets used. What works better?

Maylor for sure

I testet it

2-3x as effectiv as plain white according to my cheap light meter

emergency blankets like you can find in some first aid kit`s or buy VERY cheap online (next to no weight so free/cheap shipping as well) can also work very well but need to be secured probably and is a bit harder to work with then maylor sheets (atleast the "tick once)

Reflective materials are always worth the time and $. I know a space blanket can be a pain in the butt to mess with, but it'll repay you ten fold in return of light lost. Peace out.

EDIT: Sunleaves has a product called Ultreflect, that works amazing, and it's rigid enough to work with very easily! Great stuff!

a bit different, but used in the right way they for sure give my old 600W HPS a run for the money (buy quality tho)

and I just love the next to no heat and low power use

Im happy with the swap, Bud`s get almost the same size but I actually find the penetration better for some reason ? so lower Bud`s actually get pretty mature/big as well
and they are for sure as compact and more potent and the over all health of the plant is also better IMO

and since you don't have to struggle with heat aso you also have a much smoother grow

biggest down side is the space they cover/light spread, the HPS easily cover 4x4 the LED you see in that picture can barley cover 3x2
biggerst upside is the heat, my 600W made my temps jump +10C my LEDs maybe 1 or 2 C and the better spectrum also seem`s to be in my plants liking

I use a cool tube with a 800 cfm fan. I'm thinking about using some led along with the hps. What's ur thought on this.

Mylar has a bit more reflective of a surface, but is more $ and IMO harder to setup and maintain. Panda film (white/black) is easy to hang, easy to clean, has a nice reflective surface and is well priced.

yea the price is astronomical

and I don't know about mixing LEDs with HIDs not that I don't think it could work, but kind a take away the advances of the LEDs and since the LED is pretty one directed you need em to hang em over your plants, witch might not leave you with much/any room for your cool tube ? I would maybe do it the other way around and use the LEDs as main light and use a small HPS, maybe a 250/400W in a vertical possession for some side lightning, or if I had the space/money a vertical grow with two 600W in a cool tube and a small LED fixture over each plant

Reflective Chart

Material Percent Reflected
Foylon 94-95%
Reflective Mylar 90-95%
Flat White Paint 85-93%
Semi-gloss White 75-80%
Flat Yellow 70-80%
Aluminum Foil 70-75%
Black Less Than 10%

I got the flat white paint from Home Depot and had them add Titanium Oxide tint (the stuff that makes it reflective). Paint on the walls is easy to maintain and clean.

My cool tube is mounted 7 feet from the floor of a 3 by 5 ft closet. What I'm now thinking is my hps is centered over that area. I want to use led spot lights pointed at the top sides as too get more of the red/ blue spectrum.
