Walking Down the Hours

Is there any reason to walk down the 18/6 hours of light to 12/12 over a few days approximating the natural cycle? Or is the quick cut to 12/12 just fine? Thanks for your thoughts/experiences.
 
good question i just cut from 18/6 to 12/12 two days ago with out a walk down. hopefully i didnt mess things up =/
 
No you dont need to walk it down that will take longer when it comes to your plant to start flowering. actually some swear by the fact of giving it no light for 36 hours and then starting the 12/12 schedule so it shocks it into flowering and it starts it faster and really blows up cause it thinks winter is coming...
